A certain list of 100 data has an average (arithmetic mean) of 6 and a standard deviation of d, where d is positive. Which of the following pairs of data, when added to the list, must result in a list of 102 data with standard deviation less than d ?

思路:
(B)平均數減少, 不知道原本d多少,加進去以後新的標準差可能增加也可能減少
(C) 平均數減少, 不知道原本d多少,加進去以後新的標準差可能增加也可能減少
(D)平均數不變,不知道原本d多少,加進去以後新的標準差可能增加也可能減少
(E) 平均數不變,不論原本d多少,所有資料較變動前集中,所以新的標準差會減少

想請問大家這樣的想法正確嗎?謝謝

D選的標準差會減少嗎?

回歸求標準差的公式=>(所有數-平均數)的平方和再除以總個數然後開根號,
因此很明顯平均數是6,再加二個6等於沒加(數值-平均數),但分母個數卻變大(100->102)
故標準差必變小,其他選項都會使標準差變大!
