後面怎麼會用she has lived in
England and Canada, and first came to the United States in 1961

這樣tense的應用不是非常的怪異嗎? (意思是他現在還住在英國與加拿大,但去美國是過去的事?) 句意應該是早期住英國與加拿大,而後1961年去美國!

這可以跟上面一題一起回答！

這題的原句應該是：
Born in Calcutta in 1940, author BM became a United Satats citizen in 1988; she first came to the United States in 1961 to study at the Iowa Writers' Workshop and has lived in England and Canada.

以顏色區分之後，應該可以很明顯看出and所連接的兩個V+O，前面長後面短，是不太好的結構，因此把後面紅色部分往前拉，變成：
She has lived in England and Canada and first came to the United States in 1961 to study at the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

這邊應該就可以很清楚看出",and"的重要性，沒有了",and"會讓讀者誤會成she has lived in...and has first came to...，邏輯也不通，為了排除這樣的錯誤，因此此處的",and"變成一定必須加的逗號。
