mining heat 的mining到底是Ving還是N+N
如果是Ving 是不是應該考慮(A)(B) 因為可以和producing平行?
到底要如何判斷呢?

heating factories 指的是為工廠提供熱能嗎?

我想第一步應該可以先排除A與E,因為generation(N)就無法與之後的heating(V)平行,而且在意義上是要generate electricity
接下來就是以平衡做題
B 中to be generated與 to heat 在句意上的主詞應該不同,一個是electricity,一個是energy...並且前用被動,後用主動...
C 中for generating 與to heat 在結構上就明顯的不平衡,而且句中用production也不好...因為這裡要表現的是動作的意涵
D 中enough for generating 與for heating 就平衡了

我想mining在這裡是動名詞
因為原來的動作是mine heat
但之前加上介係詞in...所以將mine改成mining
使mining同時有名詞的詞性...但又有表達動作的效果

在和producing平行的部分
其實我認為AB錯在producing之前少了in
因為我覺得句意在說"succeed in A and in B"
沒有in造成看不出mining與producing都是succeed的一部份

heating factories 指的是為工廠提供熱能嗎?

我想你的翻譯是沒錯的...

succeed in A-ing and B-ing
應該該是ok的吧
雖然不如suceed in A-ing and B-ing來的clear
但應不至於構成錯點

同意. (i.e. in 是可以提公因式的)
覺得 (A) 不平衡; (B) 改變了句意,被動不簡潔

覺得～這題可以用enough＆平行解
enough不論做adj或adv皆只能後位修飾...B,E刪
enough後的and前沒逗號, 可見是要自己平衡的
可以發現D最佳～
醬就可以秒殺了...ㄏㄏㄏ

enough在PP1-37就前位修飾
我錯了....Orz

倒是～在這題裡
因enough後還有修飾語
若把enough提前
其後修飾語會ambiguity~

我們先看一個句子
The rich man donated enough money for the committee to help the poor.
這時help 的主詞是 committee
同理，b 選項的寫法 enough energy on a commercial scale for electricity to be generated efficiently and to heat
heat 的主詞就是 electricity，句意不對，heat 的主詞應是energy才對
但我還是不敢選d，因為enough 不是一定接 to V嗎 ??
有沒有人能解我困惑 ?? 感恩
