小弟想要問的是有關分數的表示法 分數後面的動詞單複數 是跟著分數後面的名詞單複數 在這題裡面用 Three out of every four 也是表示分數的意義 也可以用一般分數的形式 來選擇後面動詞的單複數嗎 例如 Three out of every four automobile owner in the United States also owns a bicycle.

你下面那句是則是每4人就有3人有車(可是車子數量不一定,可能有人1台,有人好多台)

我覺得主詞是複數押..
你之前說小分數表示單數那是因為數量的關係吧

3/4可數N+動詞複數
3/4不可數N+單數動詞

我印象是這樣啦...
另外Three out of every four automobile owner in the United States also owns a bicycle.
你這句有問題唷.. every four automobile owner(s)<====應該複數吧
若是數學的話,因為是以數量表示計算,所以你才會有這樣的疑問吧..
3/4 * 40 = 30---->3/4*(數量) is 30

也跟three out of every four不一樣"每四個就有三個"(可能有好幾萬個)
動辭要跟前面的數字
前面只要不是一
都要用複數動辭
