那我怎麼可以輸人
套用莫杯杯無敵必勝大怪招：比較長短!!
還是要選A←這招是來亂的啦

認真講
因為BCD從mean that開始
lives are saved ←句意完整
and
million of property damage.........(???沒了??)←有一種fragment的感覺??
不知這理由對不對請大家指正


所以也剩A E來選
嗯.....盡可能不改變句意的狀態下
我可能還是會選A
畢竟 V.的意思 和 N.的意境有差吧
(莫杯杯不知在哪好像講過??)

因為我覺得：
(B) 要用 the capability of 才對
(C) would mean that 沒有 could 的意思，改變句意；而且如果用 C 的答案完整的寫出來，我同意叮噹的說法：

The ability to predict the strength and the direction of an earthquake would mean that lives are saved and (would mean) million of property damage. 紅色部分句意怪!!

(D) 要用 the ability to V. 才對
(E) 要用 the ability to V. 才對

我覺得這提示AE兩個選項在struggle
A being able to顯然錯 應預測是是指一種能力 而不是一種可以說做就做的是
而且A可直接說predicting.... or to predict開頭 直接說預測的能力可以save....
但E ability for也錯
我覺得好像是題目抄錯吧!

嗯，我看了2004十二月的機經時，這題又出現了，正確的題目我在原稿已更正，如下
Being able to predict the strength and the direction of an earthquake could save lives and million of property damage.

A. Being able to predict the strength and the direction of an earthquake could save lives .
B The capability for predicting the strength and the direction of an earthquake would mean that lives are saved
C The ability to predict the strength and the direction of an earthquake would mean that lives are saved
D The ability of predicting the strength and the direction of an earthquake would mean that lives are saved
E The ability of predicting the strength and the direction of an earthquake could save lives

如此一來我選A的成分居高
由ability to , capability of 可刪b,d,e
a,c決選，c語意怪，所以我選A
