我的小技巧：看到表時間的從屬子句的動詞是進行式，則選while

引導副詞子句的從屬連接詞 – 表示時間 – when,while,as

一、 When
1.1 表示甲乙兩件事發生於相同的的時間 – 並未表示兩者中孰先孰後，也不表示「正在進行中」，動詞用簡單式。
I thought of it just when you opened your mouth.

1.2 表示甲動作發生後，乙動作隨之而至 – 兩者都用簡單式。
When I left the house, I remembered the key. (已被關在門外)
When John arrived , I telephoned Mary. (先到後打)

1.3 表示甲動作發生時，乙動作正在進行或已經完成。
When John arrived, I was telephoning Mary.
When John arrived, I had telephoned Mary.


二、 As
2.1 表示一面做這事一面做那事 – 兩個子句的主詞相同，動詞用簡單式。
He made a deep bow as he greeted me.

2.2 動詞是簡單式的甲動作尚未全部完成時發生了乙動作
As I left the house, I remembered the key. (仍在門內)

2.3 乙動作或狀況隨著甲動作或狀況之發展而發展。
As he became richer, he had fewer friends.


三、 While (= during the time)
3.1 兩個長時間的動作同時進行或兩種狀態同時存在 – 若要強調”正在進行之中”，兩個動詞都用進行式。否則，用簡單式即可。
While John was sitting biting his nail, I was working out a plan to get us home.
While John sat…, I worked out… .

3.2 兩個動作同時進行著。

3.3 動詞是進行式的甲動作正在進行之中時發生了乙動作 (while用得最多)
While (or As, When) I was leaving the house, I remembered the key.
