因為有contrary to 所以前後的兩個事件是要可以被比較的
如果只放financial analysts 則人和後面的現象無法比較
所以前者要說分析師預測的看法---現象
則比較說的通

我覺得沒有
句意上來看，很明顯是predictions last year
若last year要拿來修飾後面那句話的話，that要放在last year前面

個人想法有錯請指正 :smile

想請問一下各位大大,
為何答案D不好呢?
我的想法是~
analysts' predicting last year that.....
所有格+動名詞+副詞片語+受詞(名詞子句當受詞)
其中副詞修飾動名詞,且動名詞可加受詞
似乎比E選項中的predictions好些
因為last year在E選項中不知修飾誰阿
還請幫忙解答~

在所有格下, 名詞是優於動名詞的!!

"The -ing form of a verb can be used as a noun, but it is often awkward, particularly when used witha possessive, as in this case."

可能我的功力不夠吧, 好像沒能體會你的問題,
last year不是只能修飾analysts' predictions嗎?
我不太了解為什麼會有雙向修飾的問題....

我的意思是,last year 是ㄧ個時間副詞片語,
總要有東西可以修飾吧?!
不然它在句子裡就沒有意義拉~
不過,我想last year應該不可能修飾analysts' predictions吧?
因為analysts' predictions是名詞耶~

last night不是用來修飾the party嗎?
還是說, 其實它也有雙向修飾的問題存在啊?

The party last night was very successful.
這句話我會覺得是分裂結構耶~
感覺一個副詞片語放在主詞與動詞中間,感覺很不好~

我想應該是:
1.The party was very successful last night .

2.Last night the party was very successful.

放在句首或句尾修飾全句吧~

另外,我從美加手冊上抄下一個句子:

I told Susan in July 1999 I would visit England again.
=>其中in July 1999也是ㄧ個時間副詞片語,就真的是雙向修飾了,它既修飾前面的told,又修飾後面的visit~

所以,我想GWD-17-Q40最好的解釋,大概就是像前大大們所說的,last year用來修飾後面that子句中的dwindle, 然後last year和後面的this year做conrtrary吧~

Contrary to = in opposition to + N

後面主要子句是再說個人電腦產業持續成長 in opposition to "分析師的預測"

ABC是 analysts, 不合理
DE二選一, prediction用N最簡潔
