這是書上的解釋，說英文中資訊要由舊到新去鋪陳，所以` its rival(new) had sold kitchen units (old) , 改成 ...as had ( old) its rivals (new) , had 代替整各動詞片語( had sold kitchen units)

不過，關於這樣的解釋我還是很困惑，我那時候一直在 A 和 E 之中掙扎 ...

我覺得這句話的意思蠻明顯的，
The company used its sales figures to show that it had sold twice as many kitchen units as had its rivals.
該公司用他的銷售數據來顯示該公司去年賣的kitchen units是他的對手們在去年賣的kitchen units的兩倍。
it had sold和its rivals had sold並列。

前面的是過去完成式
基於平衡，你是無論如何都得用過去完成式平衡
除非前面是過去式，如 sold，後面才會補一過did
這是基本時態與比較類型題目，別把這題想太複雜

那我就很納悶了....
是不是有什麼規則,可以跟大家在分享一下呢?
因為我如果是讀者,我看到一樓那題,是有可能會與kichen unit做比較的

mike兄，小弟斗膽給你說說我的看法
我的意思是，就是因為不省were(這裡的were是避免頭重腳輕的前後對調，是英文中常用的倒裝句)，才更是證明這是Inuit 和 Aleut比較
換句話說，保留助動詞，反而為了避免主詞與受詞比較進而產生歧異，硬是保留助動詞，就是強調比較主體是主詞對主詞，

這是原句
Inuits of the Bering Sea were in isolation from
contact with Europeans longer than Aleuts or Inuits of the North Pacific and northern Alaska.

這是正確選項
Inuits of the Bering Sea were isolated from contact with Europeans longer than were Aleuts or Inuits of the North Pacific and northern Alaska.

這是還原後的句子
Inuits of the Bering Sea were isolated from contact with Europeans longer than Aleuts or Inuits of the North Pacific and northern Alaska were(isolated from contact with Europeans ).
(括號內為省略句)

你用中文想想，這一定是兩種人比Inuit 與 Aleut比較，如果選B
Inuits of the Bering Sea were isolated from contact with Europeans longer than Aleuts or Inuits of the North Pacific and northern Alaska.
那就真的會成了european 與 aleut比了，句意可是大大不通

同理類推，莫老師這本書，一定要加had，否則正如你所說，會有對手和kitchen比的問題，文法是對啦，句意可是差的遠了
但加上had，就成了我們賣的kitchen是對手賣的很多倍
少了這個賣字，就好像是少了助動詞，差多了

沒錯是我誤會他的意思了,OG224這題確實是比較主詞,不是比較受詞European
所以比較時,應該要注意兩件事情
1.誰跟誰在比
2.時態
如有遺漏請補充

請問，這裡所說的wordy 是因為 in isolation from contact 較
isolated from contact 多了一字in 所以wordy?這裡有語意上的redundant嗎?
