我想請問的(A)(B)(C)是指示代名詞問題
我ㄧ直以為

的that是代lights因為其後的visible and must be turned on and off也頗符合，但ETS明確指出that是代equipment 讓我搞不清楚代名詞的指代問題，雖然正確答案避開了這個問題，但ETS出了(A)(B)(C)三個選項明顯的再考代名詞問題，請問有什麼評斷依據嗎? 還是像這種搞不清楚狀況的答案 ETS也不敢拿來當正確答案

因為that要當關代代前面n.就不能有逗點
所以不能代lights
把,...,當插入語先不要看,that就會代equipment

ps:不懂文法看語意,也覺得不可能代到light

我把正確的(D)選項給換上了..
小的我天生就沒什麼平衡感，怎麼看就看不出平衡..

ETS OG說 (D) used by visible equipment 與 used by unobtrusive equipment 平衡.....


從overestimate ..... used by visible equipment ,.., that must be turned on and off and underestimate that used by unbtrusive equipment... 這樣就看出來

還是有個小問題，第二 that 是緊修飾 underestimate 嗎?

這後面的 that 不是和前面那個 that 平衡: 後面的 that 為指示代名詞作underestimate 的受詞 (= amount of energy), 前面那個 that 是關係代名詞 (= equipment)
應該是這麼平衡: ... to overestimate the amount of energy used by... and underestimate that used by...

感謝 D 大的說明，這題真的不容易看出來，看了許久，才捉到 overestimate & understimate 的感覺，忘了 that 也可以當做指示代名詞之用，被 D 大看出我的盲點，誤認為此題是2個 that 子句的平衡... 謝謝 D 大的糾正.. ^^
