I know why D is correct..but why E is not correct?
S+V+O, ving...-->ving means 伴隨 or 結果
so, "in fact possibly serving" in E, can mean 結果
so, why E is incorrect?

serving 修飾主要子句,意思蟋蟀叫聲那件事情就事實上有可能用作溫度計.句意不大好.
1. 應該是叫聲可以用作溫度計,不是那件事情.
2. 不是'可能',應該是'可以',意思比較明確.
3. 現在分詞修飾主要子句表示同時,伴隨;那蟋蟀不叫的時候就不是溫度計了?
