我昨晚写信一位比较文学教授(美国人)问了一下,以下是她的回信:

Dear YY, E is the best. C sounded okay till I got to E, which was better.
The English in E sounds a little old-fashioned, so I can see why you
hesitated. Good luck on the test! SV

我以前给她干过活,她是哈佛比较文学的博士,应该错不了吧?

附我的信源文:

Dear XXXXXX

It's weird to ask you a GMAT problem, but could you help me to work out this one? Thank you very much!

This is a SENTENCE CORRECTION problem. The phrase in the parentheses may be an awkward or wrong expression. There are five choices and choice A doesn't make any change. I chose C but can't exclude E safely.

So dogged were Frances Perkins' investigations of the garment industry, (and her lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent,) Alfred E. Smith and Franklin D. Roosevelt recruited Perkins to work within the government, rather than as a social worker.

A. and her lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent,
B. and lobbying for wage and hour reform was persistent, so that
C. her lobbying for wage and hour reform persistent, that
D. lobbying for wage and hour reform was so persistent,
E. so persistent her lobbying for wage and hour reform, that
