我想這考點應該不在where 跟 in which ,
而是 each other , one another, some other等的用法,
本題原畫線部分的句意是說"兩者彼此"的關係
(1.anatomy of plants 跟 2.their mechanisms of growth)
我想C跟E分別用 the next 跟 some other
暗示是這兩者跟其他東西的關係,根據原意似乎不合

而至於為何選D合適, 我查朗文字典上說
one another:
used after a verb to show two or more people or things
do the same thing to eath other
因此用one another 有表示所提事物之間彼此的關係, 關聯性的用法

因為nor後面句子要倒裝。譬如以下考題:

One report concludes that many schools do not have, nor are they likely to have, enough computers to use them effectively.

(A)(B)的nor後面是N(名詞子句) 因為主動詞與nor前面一樣 所以省略。
舉例：I don't like apple nor ( 省略 do I like) orange.

因此我認為這邊nor文法是沒有問題的
(A)(B)是錯在其他地方!
