答案B：the Incan highway,（插入句省略which was） over 2,500 miles in length,先蓋住不看...找到and後往前推到第一個動詞....表示平衡was跟extended（時態相同）...主詞The greatest road system（省略which was） built in the Americas prior to the arrival of Christopher Columbus（畫線部分形容詞子句修飾The greatest road system）可以等於the Incan highway（beV平衡）.....看起來都正確.....於是檢視插入句.....發現in length雖然等於long...但是long比較簡潔...不過這個答案可以先保留.....

寫作時寫插入句 S ,S +V, V.
例如B 是一個介片需要當插入句嗎？
就直接放在後面當修飾 the Incan highway 所以我認為comma 不需要
從comma 下手去除B 不確定對不對...

剛開始我也選B
但後來覺得E好
但看法跟前面幾個NN不同
我覺得AT大部分並不是在考簡潔

B錯在語意
(1)was 跟 extended 用and 連接
意思變成The greatest road system extended from northern Ecuador through Peru to Southern Chile.
而不是the Incan highway extended from northern Ecuador through Peru to Southern Chile.
(2)over 2,500 miles in length 可以看作前面省略was因此可以用來修飾the Incan highway也可用來修飾The greatest road system 會引起誤解

這題的(B)跟(E)之爭議有結論了嗎?

我看魚說(B)的extended改變原句的被動所以不選

但是說was.....,over 2500 miles...,and extended

was 跟 extneded 平衡似乎也說得過去阿?

(我把extend看成是過去發生的動作....還算是主動)

當初我選(E)是看在long比lenth好

而且分詞修飾 the Inca highway也滿漂亮的

(用and變成......"最偉大的道路系統是印加高速公路和延伸"?!

怪怪的...好像把延伸跟高速公路相比)

不過以上是一家之言

還想請NN來指點一下

(最後該不會只能從long跟lenth來比吧.......= =+)

我想選E
我對於B有幾點不喜歡

1. 這題考點之一應該在於同位語vs真正主詞
所以B是標準的陷阱題以此交相賊的結果就不要考慮去選B了 :PP

2. 我對於B當中的extended並不是看成was被省略的被動語態
而是過去式所以句意是變成 the system extended ....
對照原句應該是指highway extended
所以B不愛選

3. 這點是我比較不確定的一點因為and前面有逗點這樣的punctuation應該表示後面會是一個完整的句子因此主詞不可省

看的小妹實在很心虛...
有2點是莫老上課有提到的
不知道可不可以幫到大家...
1.關於extend是否應為被動的問題
莫老有提過因為extend是及物動詞,故無被動
2.在(B)(C)(D)中出現的in length不夠好
老美在表達距離的時候
prefer用2,500 miles long的方式
(2500 mile整個當做adv修飾adj "long")

請不吝賜教

同位語太長了，所以移位變形。

小弟覺得B選項錯，就是使用length，距離長度用long EX: over 2500 miles long，時間長度用length EX: the length of time。這是小弟淺見，不知各位先進覺得如何?

應該不是哦，length可以講時間也可以講距離。
我覺得以2500 miles long來說應該是屬美國人的慣用法，也比in length來得簡潔。
