今天看OG邏輯時，看到一題滿相似的
OG邏輯29

如果答案是c的話,有一點奇怪耶
C. that, on average, CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio
就算as compared to 42 times their pay這句(當成插入句來看)their不會有指代不清的問題,後面the ratio這個補述的同位語還是看起來很奇怪阿,會不會有改變句意之嫌阿? ^o)

不知道有沒有哪位大大願意解析一下.

個人怎麼看還是答案B簡潔又清楚...

答案應該不會是 C 吧，C 出現 their，指代不清，會出現歧異...

我來提一個新的說法

A recent review of pay scales indicates that, on average,

CEO’s now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workers, as

...419 times were compared to 42 times their pay, the

ratio in 1980.

省略過的結構，還有the ration是一個同位語 ;yes;

答案應該是(C)

這個莫老提過，我很認同
但是 as 後面帶的結構我寫不出來 ;-$

James \$m[1]:這題莫老已經解了，考indicate,代名詞,比較要同類
CEO's是複數
indicate+ that ->B,C
C的their 可指CEO's，也可指workers-->ambiguity
所以答案是B

可是我上課時老莫老師說答案是cㄟ
他說
the pay of blue-collar workers,as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio.......
as是連接詞
as...pay是省略型副詞子句
原句是as (CEO's now earn 419 times were) compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio in 1980
( )內為舊訊息所以省略
the ratio in 1980是同位語
至於大家對compare to 的疑問
老莫說現在美國人對compare to 和 compare with已沒什麼區別...

答案ADE 中earn an average....賺一個平均數語意怪異
但我不知道B為啥錯ㄟ

答案B

CEO'S (The PAY OF CEO'S)並沒有錯誤，他是跟THE TIMES OF BLUE WORKERS做比較。-->A,D OUT！
接下來解題就是COMPARE的問題。要加上A RATIO跟後面的42TIEMS做比較才不會產生歧義性。
另外，COMPARE TO是「比作為...」之意思。應該為COMPARE WITH較佳，我沒考過GMAT，或許美國當代的文法學家已經把這樣的用法視為平常吧！

答案B的錯誤是錯在比較不同類???

我記得上課的時候，
莫杯杯說B錯的原因係因為
a ratio 並未指定...
;-S

後來想想，越想越不對
表同位語時不都是用a+ N開頭嗎
有沒有哪個好心的補習班同學可以再幫忙問一下
B為何錯呢...
