我查了百科全書都找不到耶,可以告訴我他們的學名是什麼嗎?
還是說這是外國人叫這兩種鳥的別稱?

我是覺得只要後面提 vanishing 的都錯(比較同類問題), 所以答案只有 B 可選

我不覺得題目錯了耶
所謂Like比較要同類,我覺得是只要句意上的比較是合理的
而且可以一起用句中的動詞沒有問題就好(動詞格式不用相同但意思可以接)
舉個破爛的例子
Like the dog, the girl is happy.
我知道這個例子很爛,可是我的意思是
dog和girl雖然不同類,可是都可以接is happy且句意上合理

而本句中,用B代入
Like the grassy fields and old pastures that the upland sandpiper needs for feeding and nesting when it returns in May after wintering in the Argentine Pampas, the bird itself is vanishing in the northeastern United States as a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in farming practices.

意思是gressy fields, old pastures, the bird (sandpiper)
都vanish
我覺得其實滿合理的

而且如果細看句意
然後翻譯的話
你可以說
這種鳥,隨著他生活所需的草地及牧場的消失,也在逐漸消失中

表示某方面的改變,其固定用法為：change in…與increase in….一樣皆慣用..所以C\E可快速剔除
接下來句意為上….,A\B\D進行比較…
原句句意為:
當S在阿根廷南美大草原過冬之後五月返回時，為了feeding 和nesting，需要像長滿草的地和牧場,

A:在美國東北S的消失是residential and industrial的開發以及farming practice的改變的結果
→句意突然轉變,變成S在美國東北消失這件事與前面的句意完全不搭
D:在美國東北，S消失是由於residential and industrial的開發以及farming practice的改變的結果
→假設本句意若是Like A, B…的句型,在OG解釋裡：In comparative structures (unlike X, Y...; in comparison with X,Y...) X and Y must be both logically and grammatically parallel.然而美國東北與長滿草的地和牧場感覺上等級不同,並且在句意上也不順，因此Ｅ選GET OUT!
B: S本身正由於residential and industrial的開發以及farming practice的改變在美國東北消失
若結合上下句，變成：
