illuna \$m[1]:老實說...我第一次做這題的時候就陷入老莫在課堂上有特別提到過一個問題....

如何判斷是動名詞還是現在分詞....

shit...那天看這題的時候還是習慣把Declining當動名詞.....

因此主要動詞又搞單數.....真是有夠不爽.... :-S

好像陷入某種魔咒一樣....

橘子大哥....我也是耶....
我一開始連做兩次都把它當成動名詞 :| 接單數名詞....
不過....你知道怎麼分辨了嗎?? 動名詞 or 現在分詞??
我....沒有心得@.@

我之所以寫出來就是希望有哪位大大可以把如何分辨的方法跟我說一說啊....

因為我懶得再回去找莫伯伯的筆記了....我是確定有抄下來啦...因為這是我碰到的瓶頸....

那我等等再回頭去找找....妳等等喔....

有大大有更好的方法就麻煩跟我們說一聲吧.... ;)

OG解答有指名說.. collaterals = the declining value

Choice E, the best answer succinctly and clearly identifies the Declining values as the collateral against which farmers borrow and correctly uses the plural verb are.

在這裡我要題出一個疑惑, 為什麼　collaterals 會等於　the declining value, OG 上是說　”identifies the Declining values as the collateral again which farmers borrow" 是甚模意思呢　 *-)

腦袋一片渾沌 ,不知從何下筆

先肥答動名詞跟分詞的問題好了

動名詞通常是表示一種狀態因為用名詞無法生動活潑的把那個狀態表現出來

所以才跟動詞商量借來用用

舉例 : 吃蛋糕是我最大的興趣

如果吃當分詞解分詞的功能為形容修飾名詞

那這句話就可簡化為蛋糕是我最大的興趣

蛋糕怎會是我的興趣呢 ? 看中文就不通再看看英格理敘(不是英格蜜兒喔)

eating cakes is my indulgence

這個更清楚若eating作分詞解 ,作用修飾cakes (姑且不管這扭曲的句意)

be前後等同
cakes = my indulgence
不合理吧 ;)

不大曉得兩位在什麼地方將這兩者搞混 :^)

我的判斷 , 這句是降的

Declining values for farm equipment and land, the collateral against which farmers borrow to get through the harvest season, are....

1.
farmers borrow against collateral loan to get through the harvest season,

2. 因為想寫的很漂亮 +表達這個collateral 是前面的farm equipment and land
而不是house或stock 或insurance

==>the collateral (loan) farmers borrow against which to get through the harvest season

3.要遵循文法規則

==>the collateral against which farmers borrow against to get through the harvest season

這就是為啥

Declining values =the collateral again which farmers borrow

不知道這樣解釋清不清楚 :^)

不過更詳細的應該要問AGK大哥吧他廿財經應蚢韔OCO的事情瞭若指掌

今天和B桑等同學討論，我們又有一些新的想法
講重點吧，which 看能不能代farm equipment and land,
而 farm equipment and land又是 colleteral的同位語
魚寫的差不多吧，因為原句的關係，不妨把the collateral against which farmers borrow 改為 farmers borrow against colleteral to get trrough...
再加上解釋最後一行，Declining values =the collateral again which farmers borrow

所以可以下結論，就是farmer borrow (loan) against colleteral , 但又由於farm equipment and land 發生declining values, 所以force many lenders to tighten or deny credit.

那麼 which = farm equipment and land ,才能讓declining values = the collateral again which farmers borrow (farmers borrow against colleteral)

仔細想想，which = declining values 恐怕是用中文思考，against 就直接視為farmers borrow loan然後要繳抵押品, 就直接以against colleteral表達，colleteral (也就是farm equipment and land)跌價，才會讓借款人緊縮信用

declining values不該是which，equipment and land 才是which 所代(其實更精確說根本就是colleteral)(which代equipment and land確實少見，但句意較通，也符合解答要求)，唯有如此，中間插入句才會更顯清晰，全題的意思才對

看完了討論，總結是這樣嗎?

紅色部分三個相等

那中間同謂語原本的寫法是??還是有點模糊

小第一開始也把這提當動名詞看
把它當"價值的下降"這件事單數
後面用which代那些價值
也選了B
小弟個人發現熊妹跟Illuna大都是句意高手
才會被這提騙了

後來想出為蛇麼不是當動名詞
因為若要講"價值的下降"
要用Value declining
但題目要講那些"下降的抵押品價值"
正好回應Q大問的E解釋
就是在講鬥號後是同位語

然後Decline values是名詞片語
用複數選E
有which都會帶到land不行
要嘛也要用分辭才能代values後的那串東東
但which刪掉後只有同位語可以選
都是在講"values"而不是講declining
因此判斷是這些價值
複數選E

the collateral against which farmers borrow to get through the harvest season

這裡borrow沒有用from而用against
只是在講跟誰借
沒有明講從何借來
就像直接講"出資者"是一樣意思
把against看成from就董了
這些"由農夫向出資者借來的"用來度過收成季節的"抵押品"
而這些抵押品是declining values貶值的東東
因此用複數動辭選E

看完了之前的討論還是不是很明白, CD 上的一些討論我比較能吸收, 這裡引用來給大家參考看看, 跟前人的想法有些不同:

1. collateral 指 far equipment and land,
字典上對 collateral 的定義- 抵押品；附加擔保品；質物
為美國用語，在英國則稱為collateral security，或簡稱security，指債務人提供作為償還貸款的抵押品·若貸款的期限已到而債務人無力償還時，債權人有權將該項抵押品加以變賣以抵償貸款本息·此種由債務人提供抵押品的貸款，稱為collateralized loan.

所以colleateral 不應是指decline value

2. collateral against
用。。。做抵押 eg:
i lease a sport car against my house
