己經不知讀幾次了，但現在看到這一題，真是感動，貼出來和大家研究

但是 , 因為 美國人連 信紙裡會發生火山爆發這種事都會相信了

這句話的解釋就是這個意思 ~~

1.表達prdgressive and ongoing的語氣，要用現在分詞(這點我看不出來，請大家指點

學生現在缺乏數學能力<----> 未來會面臨困難

(可考 imply題 : 從現在 到將來進入社會的這段時間內 學生的數學程度都不會改善) :P

Students in the metropolitan school district are so lacking in math skills that it will be difficult to absorb them into a city economy that becomes ever more dependent on information-based industries.

學生持續缺乏數學能力 <---->未來會無法進入一個在"現在"變成的more dependent on information-based industries.


我絕得要細究的話,差異在此

大哥有一句老莫常講的話也許可以拿來跟你講講....就是...

代名詞優先代替原題主詞

我的看法是答案C中lack of math skills是名詞用法在該選項內變成有主格的感覺....和未畫線部分的students主格衝突....也就是說在本選項內them有兩個主格可以替代....

至於E的話沒有這個問題是因為很明顯的math skills作補語補充說明學生缺乏的是數學能力....唯一的主詞就是Student.....

means all the time. like "ever-present" to show that something exists all the time or contiues doing something or being something all the time.

ie)
an ever increasing prison population

Students lack of math skills..."becoming ever more dependent" 表持續到未來的狀況

所以一定要用
Students are lacking in math skills .... becoming ever more 現在一直到未來

可是老莫不是說
lack當Vi時 其介係詞必用"in" 時態必用進行式
即等於lack當Vt

這樣怎麼會有接"for"的用法呢?

時間過的有點久...快要一年前的討論了...小小補充一下

stan所說的as是指such...as...中的as,意思是例如財務.行銷之類的特定(課程)領域,都是指課程領域,所以屬於性質相同的舉例

Pufa所說的as是指一開頭的As business...,意思是隨著商業日趨複雜

二位大大說的都對,只是彼此有點小誤會而已

(A) (C) 中的 them 如果指 students 應該改成 themselves, 如果指 math skills 则句意怪怪: students absorb math skills into a city economy
(B) they 指 students 變成 students absorb into a city economy 一樣句意怪怪(how?); absorb 是及物動詞必需有受詞
lack 只能作動詞或名詞, 在 (C) 裡它只能解釋成主詞同位語; 不管它是
students 或 district 的同位語都無法成立 (i.e. students <> lack, district <> lack)
(D) 又出現 students absorb (themselves?) into a city economy 的情形
(E) 用 so ... that; that 另起一句用虛主詞 it (主詞不再被 so as to 限制住), them 優先代替 students
