我覺得重點不是什麼時候要用 double 或是as much/many as，基本上這是相等的
重點是有沒有出現number或是figure這類的字來 強調並明確的指出句子是要比較"數字，或是比率", 至於(which is) 我覺得不太好，感覺
"double the figure for 1977 "是一種補述說明，用which is 會有歧義，因為which 不能代整個句子， 且which modify the nearest noun，只要題意是修飾整個句子，用which is 好像都是錯的，沒記錯的話啦。個人小小的見解，參考看看囉。

128題選twice而不選double的原因為，twice為副詞才能修飾produce.

而這題選d的原因:1.b選項應改為twice as many as in 1977.
2.double為形容詞,修飾20736這個數字嗎?
想請教ㄧ下, b選項改為twice as many as in 1977是否為正確,亦或即使更改之後還是不對,因為twice的詞性.

我覺得OG(11th)#128題的選項A本身就很怪~
1.我查了Longman Dictioary,double可以當adj,adv,V,N,predeterminer,故,double也可以像twice一樣修飾produce

2.it=the same amount of acreage,用has很怪,應該是要有生命的才會用has/have吧?

3.最後就是時態也錯囉~應該要用過去是才對

致於OG(11th)#4,若向你所說的改為twice as many as in 1977就對囉
=>原句:in 1986 there were 20,736 femaile ministers twice as many as in 1977 there were 10,368 femaile ministers

另外，twice作adv用也是有，但是"好像"只用於bent double這個片語之上，我想double的主流用法僅需討論adj / v / predet 這三者即可。所以og11e 128說不用double來修飾produce是可以理解的。不過這一題中(A)produce double the apple如果視為v+predet+det+N我覺得是結構上是沒有問題的，不過後面that it has 就完全是錯的。

回到og 11e 第4題，跟隨pufa的意思，這題double是作predet即限定詞之用，完全合情合理！

這題學問蠻大.
(A) ministers 是可數名詞,不能用 much
(B) 至少是 twice as many as it was in 1977 句意才完整,不過這下子 it 要指什麼又傷腦筋了(clergy? 9%?), 如果要指 20,736 這個數字,恐怕要寫成 twice as many as the 20,736 female ministers in 1977, 這樣不如 twice the figure for 1977.
(C) it 指代不清
(D) = twice the figure for 1977
(E) that = number (1977 的 number), of 1977's = of 1977's female ministers 不簡潔吧!

(B) 的twice as many as 1997缺乏in，由"were twice as many as in 1997 there wrer 10,367 female ministers"簡化而來
(C) what 和 it 指誰都不清楚
(E) a number double that of 1977's 的 a 未指定，但題目中已有20,736，所以不知道a number要指誰
(D) 莫老師說for是指10,367，for是與figure有關，與年代無關

我查字典的結果也是都沒有看到double當被動的例句
可是在這題OG的講解中就有使用到double當被動的用法：

我之前上課也老師也是用刪去法，這題沒有非用double不可以的必要，但是其他選項都不對阿!
