我覺得B的, which ranges 應該沒有指涉不清的問題耶,因為

country 應該不可能ranges from obscure textbooks to mass-market paperbacks.
book market才可能吧?!

這是我的猜測,不知道是不是這樣
因為怎麻看,我還是覺得 to 10 percent from 6 percent的寫法很"乃右"...

實在無法接受莫伯伯的解釋
選項B指代不清造成ambiguity的問題比選項E的"to... from"還嚴重

雖然考完AT很久了..
今天在看Wall Street Journal 的時候,看到一則財經新聞,
是在說一家美國的知名Gold Producer,看到一段句子,
"Its gold sales grew to $1.01 billion from $914 million"
熊熊想到之前做GWD的這題, 趕快上來提供一下情報..
其實在看公司獲利報告的時候, 還蠻常看到這樣的句子結構..
例如..increased to XX from XX, or grew to XX from XX
所以我想to...from...這樣的結構是ok的..
希望對要考的同學有幫助:)

可是莫背背說GMAT的文法通常比報紙上的財經新聞的還要嚴格，
所以常常新聞上可以用的文法，AT上不行......

這題答案應該是E拉，which ranges 沒有道理用來修飾國家，這裡要想像有一家不知名的出教科書的出版社，經過合併後市場擴及至一般常見的paperbacks(平裝本)書市場
感謝amanda的解答，我第一次做題看到to... from ...結構也快昏了，怕怕不敢選，結果是我孤陋寡聞。

不知道老莫有沒有在課堂上再提及過呢

如果答案是b
由輕到重似乎也可以接受
但是做題的時候,還是很容易直覺which指代不清耶

不過針對e選項,我也覺得country's 有點問題
雖然ets常出現country's , city's 這種用法
但是我覺得 book market in the country (在此城市的市場)
與 coutry's book market (好像是這個城市自己擁有的市場)
似乎有些許不同

可能有點鑽牛角尖

GMAT 常考細微的差異. book market in the country 和 the country's book market 的確不同義 (i.e. 兩個是不同的 market). 原句 (A) 是後者,這樣一來 (B) 不就改變句意了?
原句要表達的是 country's market, 如果要說 (A) 不可,只有當它句意表達不當的時候. country 擁有 market 應該合理吧!
from... to... 換成 to... from... 覺得要表達的意思一樣,但後者強調 to...

遷就 which 指代的時候,容許所有格.
(B) 和 (E) 比較:移動副詞變成所有格以符合 which 就近指代原則,要選 (E) ,因為考點就在這兒.

Answer B is ambiguous because it can be read as
By merging its two publishing divisions, the company will increase "from 6 percent to 10 percent" its share of the $21 billion book market in the country...

This is like saying, for example, the company has 8% share of the book market, they are going to increase it from 14% up to 18%, but this is not what the original sentence meant.

Answer E is very clear in saying:
the company will increase to 10 percent from 6 percent its share of the country's $21 billion book market... This clearly says the company's share is originally at 6%.

Besides, the 'which' in answer B refers to the 'country' which is typically a mistake in GMAT.
