當初很大意的把the reat 跟comma後面的the rate想來平衡一下

今天回頭檢討了一下

(B) 是說美法兩國所有人消費fat的人均比率(單位可能是多少g/每人)

(E) 美法消費fat的人的比例(單位可能是每百人有多少人)

PS.雖然按照常理應該是100%吧!有人可以不消費脂肪嗎?:PP

所以小弟理解是句意的問題

舉例:

吸煙人口比率= ---------------------
1111111111111吸煙人數+不吸煙人數

the Rate of A =----------- , 暗示了B的存在
1111111111111111A+B


現在來看(E) the rate of people consuming fatty foods
means some people don't consume (fatty) food
這不合理 事實上是我們吃的東西人體將其轉變成脂肪 沒有人能不吃東西...

(D) the rate of fatty food consumed 道理同上 means
有fatty food not consumed 存在 這也不合理
既然沒有consumed 沒有需求 那這種food生產出來幹嘛?

the rate of 在商業文章常見 可以多推敲它的含意....



(B) 直接用 S+V 直述 people consume foods 是比(D),(E)清楚明確

(A) rate 跟 United States 不能比 (rate 是受詞,不能省;必需 comparable to that of US); rate 看起來是指 fatty foods (i.e. consume... at a rate); their 指代不清(=foods? people?)
(C) 被動少選; their 指代不清
(D) rate of fatty foods (應該是 rate of people 才合理吧!)
(E) the same... as, 不是 the same... and
所以選 (B) 囉?
但是,
(B) 裡 at about the same rate 會不會修飾不清啊?
i.e. {people in France and the United States consume fatty foods} at about the same rate => 修飾整句, rate 指 people (吃脂肪食物的人口比率)
還是 people in France and the United States {consume fatty foods at about the same rate} => 修飾 consume, rate 指 fatty foods (脂肪食物的比率)?

我個人覺得B裡面 at about the same rate 沒有修飾不清的問題，就是直接修飾consume...不會修飾到fatty food

但我個人的翻譯不太一樣，我覺得不是"吃脂肪食物的人口比率", 也不是"脂肪食物的比率"
而是-->在法國和美國 吃肥吱吱食物的速度差不多

拿起我厚厚的oxford,它說
same:
1.adj:They both said much same thing.
2.pron:I would do the same again.
3.adv:Babies all look the same to me.

我個人覺得B裡面 at about the same rate 沒有修飾不清的問題，就是直接修飾consume...不會修飾到fatty food

贊成! 這邊的rate沒那麼複雜, 只是作副詞講吃fatty food的速度而以
跟比例甚麼的無關!!
