答案(A)也是用each來強調"每一個"中文字的特性

這題是E,dwellings 是複數,each不對

each 是代名詞, 代替單數的shades (i.e. shade)

(A) each = shade = a roof of poles and arrowweed supported by posts set in a rectangle
如果題目只看一半,會覺得 shade <> a roof ,的確.但是把後面的修飾語全部加進去,就可看出 each 後面這一串文字其實就在描述 shade.
i.e. a roof of poles and arrowweed supported by posts set in a rectangle 是 each 的同位語.

1.標準形式：a. S+V+O, n +doing/done/adj/prep/n（ets的preference，因為的確簡潔）
b. svo,with/without + n +doing/done/adj/prep/n(不得不談的with，作為正確選項概率很小，因為會有修飾歧義，不知是修飾最近的名詞性成份還是主句主語，很多有爭議的GWD都是從這裏來的。個人意見：多半是錯的，別對with有好感）
c. S+V+O, each+doing/done/adj/prep/n（ets的preference

8 獨立主格結構
1)獨立主格結構放在句首或句尾,起狀語作用,表伴隨原因﹑條件﹑狀態等。
2)一般獨立主格,與主句形成鬆散的邏輯關係,形式為:
n．+ n.; n. + -ed/ing形式; n. + 介詞短語;n. +形容詞短語
3)with型獨立主格,與主句形成緊密的邏輯聯繫,形式為:
with + n. + -ed/ing形式; with + n. + adj.; with + n. + 介詞短語 作狀語修飾前一個分句的動作類型詞 例:Visitors to the park have often looked into the leafy canopy and seen monkeys sleeping on the branches, with arms and legs hanging like socks on a clothesline. with引導的獨立主格作狀語就近修飾sleeping。
4)each型獨立主格,強調句尾名詞,形式為:
句子 + 複數名詞結尾, each + 介詞短語/形容詞短語/-ed形式/-ing形式。
例:Chinese, the most ancient of living writing systems, consists of tens of thousands of ideographic characters, each character a miniature calligraphic composition inside its own square frame. 獨立主格形式 n + n 與主句形成鬆散邏輯關係

依照上面說法
我認為
(A)好在each獨立主格修飾句尾的shades
其他with獨立主格修飾的主詞不清
(反正我覺得"不要對with有好感"這句話很好用 )

這邊each可以單獨用嗎,因為前面找不到單數的shadesㄚ

og上有一題中國字那題,前面大大也提過:正確選項為

有注意到嗎,一樣是獨立主格但是each後面有補出character這樣才完整each當形容詞用

另外有一題OG10第1題:
(e)that has occcured as each was a child
og中的解釋為單數代名詞each代不到複數young men and women
所以錯

那這邊如果選(a)該怎麼解釋ㄋ,當代名詞前面有什麼單數名詞可代?

剛好昨天上專題, 今天寫GWD, 老莫提到"獨立分詞片語"時, 有舉一題類似的例子

獨立分詞片語: (1) 取消連接詞:because (2)保留主詞: each (3) 動詞變分詞 is => being.
這邊的being被省略. (但是老莫建議還是不要省略比較優)

有沒有覺得眼熟?

題外話: 我覺得set in a rectangle 跟 each a roof比較合
