畢竟本題的主詞應該是one of the three best novels
應該是單數
如過要用Black Americans 在written 前面應該要加上which


問題..是 being到底怎麼來的呢？
有沒有人可以解釋一下阿....

老話一句 回歸文意

(B)(C)的including後面應該接三本小說,但再往前找句子已先提到其中一本(Jean Toomer's Cane),dash接下來的句意當然是要說剩下的兩本,所以(A)(D)(E )the others being...的用法才合句意;如果用including則會導致少說了一個的文意缺陷,即使把第三本也補上了,也是冗贅
2.
the others指的是剩下的兩本'書',而非人(因為前面未劃線的部份是說Jean Toomer's Cane這本書),所以(A)(C)(D)都可刪去<----這點比較tricky,因為用中文來看'某某人的一本書','常常可以指書又指人
3.
1+2==>選(E)

可是前幾天的專題班 莫老師講到這題 他很明確的說 答案是E


B不好是including前不用破折號
可看成Black American who include
把 who 去掉 然後 include變 including

然後D的話不簡潔
E的話好 而且老師還提到 the others 所以後面接兩個人

三本小說由同一個黑人寫
應該根本不會有破哲號後面的另兩個人
原句意應該是要講三本黑人鉅作裡的其中一本
破哲號後面是包含另兩位黑人的鉅作

慣用法大刀佔總題數超過三分之一
the others being-->unidiomatic and awkward
與句意相比
破哲號跟including的組合相對微不足道

理論上的說法前面都提過了
因為原文提到JT的某作品是三部的其中一部
因為最好的有三部
所以一般人馬上就會問一下
另兩部是什麼

one of A
the others are B and C
連接詞省略，are改成being
(破折號不深究)

one, the others對稱
A,B and C也對稱

本題連阿度仔自己都沒定論 何況我們這些非native speakers 唉
check了外國兩個forum都還是各有各的支持者

不論如何 E選項中的 a black american 誰可以解釋 ? 別用文法技巧了 句義到底是什麼?

我翻譯一下

JT的C書被稱為 "一個黑人"曾經寫過的三本最屌的小說其中的一本 -- 其他本.....

這點解? 一個人跟自己比
如果要把one of ..... novels當主詞 那後面接的表示方式應該是 by "himself"
何必擺個 " 一個黑人"來混淆句義?

誰幫忙查查
a black American在慣用正式英文當中是否可以當作一大群黑人解 如果可以這題就結案了 不然在AT中始終是得遵循句義至上的

由第一句話可以看出 C/D/E 選項的 "a Black American" 實在是奇怪

最新消息...昨天上課老莫講這題給的答案是E
根據他的說法...有one後面要搭配the others，所以，有including的不選。
再來，原題是以Jean Toomer’s Cane的形式表達某人的小說，所以E的表達方式與原題表達的方式一樣，選E。
