文章auguding » 2006-08-20 21:33

Q18:
The Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) spacecraft will orbit the asteroid Eros for a year, slowly moving closer to the surface of the object to make ever more precise measurements that scientists hope will enable them to understand how the solar system formed some four billion years ago.

A. to make ever more precise measurements that scientists hope will enable them to
B. to make ever more and more precise measurements, which scientists are hoping to enable them
C. for making ever more precise measurements, and scientists hope that they will be able to
D. with the purpose of making more precise measurements than ever, and which scientists hope will enable them to
E. in order to make more precise measurements than it ever did, and scientists are hoping they will be able to

不應該用TO代表IN ORDER TO嗎??

比 for+V-ing來得好,不過這題選C的原因不是因為to 跟 for 的差別。
(A)(B)中的 that 和 which 指代產生邏輯錯誤
(E)中 hoping 後少了 that;故選(C)

(A)THAT只MEASUREMENTS嗎..

I vote for (A)
because I think measurement can enable scientists to understand .....@#$@#.......

If this concept is correct, the comma will not be necessary anymore.

==== from CD ======

"It will be the analysis of this 3-D viewing that scientists hope will enable them to better predict the sun's coronal mass ejections, whose solar radiation affect our communications and power grids. "

btw, 我也選A
C直覺覺得for making 很怪, 還有and 和誰平衡?

是我看錯了嗎 A是run-on sentence

The Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) spacecraft will orbit the asteroid Eros for a year,
slowly moving closer to the surface of the object to make ever more precise measurements that scientists hope will enable them to understand how the solar system formed some four billion years ago.

will orbit 和 will enable 中間沒有連詞阿

那than在哪?

Q18:
The Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) spacecraft will orbit the asteroid Eros for a year, slowly moving closer to the surface of the object to make ever more precise measurements that scientists hope will enable them to understand how the solar system formed some four billion years ago.

A. to make ever more precise measurements (that scientists hope) will enable them to

B. to make ever more and more precise measurements, which scientists are hoping to enable them
ever more and more --> redundancy;

C. for making ever more precise measurements, and scientists hope that they will be able to
and 與 the NEAR spacecraft 平行,
ex: I can lead a better life.

D. with the purpose of making more precise measurements than ever, and which scientists hope will enable them to
and which 沒有平行物, which不知道代誰
with the purpose of --> redundancy

E. in order to make more precise measurements than it ever did, and scientists are hoping they will be able to
than it ever did --> redundancy; than ever 是慣用語;are hoping --> hope

Therefore, I would vote for C.

Penny Lee \$m[1]:Q18:

A. to make ever more precise measurements that scientists hope will enable them to

C. for making ever more precise measurements, and scientists hope that they will be able to
and 與 the NEAR spacecraft 平行,
ex: I can lead a better life.
而非object 去for making...

E. in order to make more precise measurements than it ever did, and scientists are hoping they will be able to
than it ever did --> redundancy; than ever 是慣用語;are hoping --> hope

A. to make ever more precise measurements that scientists hope will enable them to

to make ever more precise measurements

scientists hope the measurements will enable them to understand....

除了ever more and more很怪之外,which代替measurement有沒有錯?

Go for 限定用法的 (A)

"scientists hope the measurements will enable them to understand...."
Vt+N (hope that the measurements will...)?
如果是Vt+N,那麼可以用關代改成measurements that scientists hope will嗎?或者說這裡scientists hope是插入句即 measurements that, scientist hope, will enable?

;))
