答案是C,在OG的解釋中它說

第24題中,"protecting"所修飾的是緊接在它前面的名詞( items of military equipmewnt)
但是在其他句子中,例如
They went to the night club, drinking some wine.
"drinking"所修飾的是前一句的主詞(they)
我想請教的問題是,當Ving 出現在後半句的時候,它所修飾的對象有沒有固定(是前半句的主詞還是緊接在它前面的名詞)
還是要看句意才能知道它要修飾什麼??
這問題困擾我好久,請教各位了^^"

A級垂耳兔 \$m[1]:不懂是當然的...因為美加沒教...就算有教也是鬼扯什麼省略連接詞或是關代
...其實這種東西也困擾我超久...後來看到對岸的GWD分析後才了解...
這種結構就是目的(結果)狀語...後面句子代表前面整句接下來的目的或結果...
習慣用分詞....這種考題GWD和PP超多...
要是不會的話考試不僅浪費時間答題..也會答錯...
想考高分真的要靠自己...補習班也只能給到600的實力~~~
如果把你說的跟鬼扯的合在一起就能解釋了
They went to the night club, drinking some wine.
它的原句是
They went to the night club, and they drank some wine.

只是他不一定修飾哪一個部分,如果修飾的是主詞的話,就把他看作省略連接詞
如果修飾的受詞的話,就把他看作省略關代
重點就是在補充說明,帶出目的和結果
以上是我的想法,有沒有其他更好的解釋方式呢??

在OG上它的解釋說
As used here, it correctly describes an action that happens at the same time as the action in the main clause; "buring" indicates that the number of wild birds became 34 when the five eagles left their nests.
所以說逗點之後的Ving(垂耳兔所說的目的狀語)可以修飾主詞.動詞.受詞
基本上就是補充說明前句,所以看到他的時候要看語意才能辨別要如何使用

看了一下你解釋的省略and或which是還不錯啦...
因為這就是美加教大家的方式..但是我覺得不要刻意去"還原"
因為這樣反而會更混淆...我當初就是這樣開始搞亂的....
的確...這些目的和結果狀語真的是需要閱讀前提...在補習班解題過分重視文法(像這種"還原"就是血淋淋的例子)...OG雖然沒講清楚(可能是老外真的太笨不知道該怎麼解釋)...但是他確實是重要考點...今天作PP還有一題答案也是狀語...是"原因"狀語...我才了解原來很多東西是ETS想告訴我們...但可能是他們不知道怎麼形容...就像你要我解釋什麼是"結果狀語"...文法是怎麼來的..我真的解釋不出來...這種偏重語感又類似慣用結構的方式...真的很難解釋...我只能舉很多例子給你看...讓你搞清楚...
