C) 中的it 可以看作是名詞子句的主詞嗎?這裡應該也沒有指代不清的問題呀

把句子還原
they believe explosion to be of a type previous unknown to science.
如果是B的話還原會變成
they believe explosion it to be .....
it就是explosion所以重覆了...
至於C的that應該是名詞子句的that吧..
除非they的前面也有一個that不然我不覺得 that 與 it 重覆

指代的問題....
it前面有兩個單數名詞....
除非其他選項有很嚴重的錯誤不然有it的我應該不會選..

你看
1.believe [that +S+V]--->可以看成believe的受詞
2.believe O+to be O.C
B,C 的that跟it 都是believe的受詞,所以是重複哩
C中的it當然可以看成主詞,只是不需要多這各it來說明explosion,因為前面有one就是爆炸了...
只有E最清楚..
把句子重寫they believe explosure to be of.......
--->one they believe to be of.......
