理由如下
BCD中的....would mean that live are saved和後面未劃線的句子合起來看,
不是變成lives are saved and millons of property damage了嗎 這樣明顯違反parallelism的原則

另外有改變句意,redundant,而且沒有必要使用被動,一這樣用好像句子的重心變成Lives 而非談預測地震的能力

不選E的原因是好像沒人說ability for Ving

剛剛查了字典好像慣用法是ability to do sth

另外C接後面未劃線部分不太順...

對。A 和 E的優點就是可以和未劃線的部分接得起來。
不過，這個Being......實在讓人工不下手，而the ability for...又有點unidiomatic....
如果真的一定要選，那就，那就，忍痛選A吧........就把它當成是V-ing常主詞的情況吧！

Passive voice不是不可以用，active voice有時會影響句子重心。

A being able to顯然錯 應預測是是指一種能力 而不是一種可以說做就做的是
而且A可直接說predicting.... or to predict開頭 直接說預測的能力可以save....
但E ability for也錯
我覺得好像是題目抄錯吧!

我想這或許可以解釋為何A也是一個可以被接受的選項
Being able 是否會和ability在意義上有不同或改變之嫌,從個角度看來應該是不會

另外, 關於對稱的問題與為何在此句的lives要使用被動
可能要請Ethan大大幫大家開示一下
要不然BCD直接刪掉豈不太冤枉

being able to 是可以等於ability的，雖然囉嗦，但在這題卻是不得不選

另外，如果A改成predicting....那就完全改變了句意，不會是正確答案

我覺得being有時候還是會對的,要看用法而定 , 雖然很多時候不對
OG中ETS沒說過 being 絕對錯
可是卻頗強調沒有平衡對稱就錯
本題C前面部份很吸引人,可是後面平衡得一蹋糊塗, 讓人選不下去
反觀A 雖然以Being起首,但也無犯大毛病,重點是後面and兩邊有平衡
投A一票
