因為BCDE都是錯的...
in 1990, there were fewer days with light rainfall than in 1910 and fewer with moderate rainfall. 讓 B C 都不成立

D的話 因為moderate少於2 inches
在總天數較少的情況下 不可能到達兩倍

E的話 yet total rainfall for the year was 20 percent higher in 1990 than in 1910. 一除就知道不對囉

維尼大大已經說得很清楚嘍。
我來補充一下答案A：

因為題目已經說1990年總雨量較多，而中小程度降雨日較少，
所以理應大雨日的"總雨量"要比較多才有可能。

答案A說大雨日較少其實是可能的，如果日數少但每日降雨量超大的話（題目只說大於2 inches）。

我覺得可以和答案D做個對照，因為moderate rainfall已經規定了上下限，所以它的降雨強度已經受限，但heavy rainfall只有下限而已，所以答案A是可能的。
