In the two years following the unification of Germany in 1989, the number of cars owned by residents of East Germany and the total distance traveled by cars in East Germany both increased by about 40 percent. In those two years, however, the number of East German residents killed each year as car occupants(持有者) in traffic accidents increased by about 300 percent.

D為什麼對E為什麼不對?
我覺得E很好呀 在其他分類的車禍人數不多 所以車子(禍)多 因為大家都開車呀 (support--- the number of cars owned by residents of East Germany and the total distance traveled by cars in East Germany both increased by about 40 percent)

我覺得要看題目的問法
explain the disproportionate increase in traffic fatalities.
題目是要解釋為何車禍死亡人數成長的實在太不符合比例.

但(E) 說其他騎士路人等等死於車禍的: only small increases.
這個選項1)武斷 2) 擴大範圍 (車主和 摩托車騎士, 腳踏車騎士/路人 沒有關聯).

題目探討的是car occupants的 fatality increase.

同意vantreal兄的看法~

要先確認問題的思路在於:
cause :
cars owned 和 total distance traveled by cars 增加40%

effect :
300% traffic accidents

主要在探討 40%increase 怎麼導致300% accidents

(E) motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians 又不是40%裡頭的人,無關的探討

(D)40%increase的人中,有很多是 driven little or not at all,說明了為何導致300%的結果

統一之前的每輛車人數較高, 統一後這兩年比較低, 無法支持原因, 顛倒還可以.

搬家無關

二手車有無關

駕駛員佔很大比例, 這些人都是之前不太開車或幾乎沒開過車的. 支持原因.
