可是 D 是涉及 ''pay'' ,反對一方並沒有提到pay ,D如何能夠用來 weaken 反對者, 反倒是 A -->過去3年成立的公司所支付的平均薪水 高於 Delmont 剛上任所成立之公司的薪水還高,不就表示 support 市長嗎?

答案是D不是C
D是說減少的工作其薪資低於過去每年平均
而原句則是說新增的工作多於減少的，加上新增工作的薪資也高於過去每年平均

不過仔細想想A那個答案他是拿市長上任之初的created job和近三年created job來比平均薪資...
醬是錯誤比較...
並沒有支持...
因為他應該拿近三年所有job和他上任之初的所有job的平均薪資比才對...
醬才表示他任期中created job比eliminated job平均薪資高...

I think the answer for this q is "A".

It says in the ad that "there can be no question that throughout Delmont's tenure the average paycheck in the city has been getting steadily bigger".

So to stranthen the argument u have to prove that the statement above is true. In answer A it support the argument by saying for the past 3 years the average pay is higher than earlier in mayer Delmont's tenure. (meaning the paycheck is getting bigger).

Answer D, on the other hand, saying the average pay for job eliminated is roughly EQUAL every year to the average pay for jobs citywide. So one can presume that the pay for jobs did not get bigger, because the two payments are equally the same.

That is my reason for stick with A.

我贊成你對於D的說法...
但是對A的解釋我有點意見
earlier "in ....tenure"指的不是市長上任之前
而是跟過去三年比起來更早的一段任期...市長是同一個人
如果市長任期是四年...那earlier指的可能就是第一年
這樣一來A就呼應題目中的結論...在這個市長任期內the average paycheck getting steadily bigger...或許不見得是steadily...但的確是getting bigger

結論就是...A和D我選不出來...:(
