Texas A&M和SMU

申請上Texas A&M (with in-state tuition and USD3,000)以及
SMU (with USD28,000 plus USD2,000 if reply earlier)
實在是很難做決定各有優缺點
想要請教一下大家對這兩間學校的看法

德州農工一票，
純粹是因為學術聲望好，學費巨便宜。
是我很喜歡的學校之一。

我的背景跟版上好幾位超強的大大比算是很普通的(好像已經po過了 *-)

):

AT: 640
TOEFL: 253
WE: 3 yrs
Under: NTU, Sociology
GPA: 3.79

目前申請的結果:
Admission: SMU Texas A&M ASU
Rejection: UCI ( ;''(

虧我還飛過去面試) Indiana U
Waitlist:U of Florida (叫我AT考高一點可能有希望)
Waiting for response: UC-Davis UIUC Maryland UT-Austin UW

一直都沒有怎麼po文章，因為之前飛過去面試UIUC UC-Davis跟UC-Irvine，還遇到護照搞丟的事情，真是一團混亂 >"<。

還好有這個站讓我可以看看一起努力的夥伴們。

我知道等待學校放榜的心情與煎熬
希望大家都能進入適合自己的學校

不過
我還是很困擾因為在BW上SMU的排名都穩穩的在second tier
ASU則也是一直保持在second tier
但是Texas A&M卻在近年下滑到third tier
不知道BW排名的標準是什麼

Texas A&M畢業後的就業率亮眼
不過我在面試時
主考官Carroll Scherer有特別提醒我說國際學生畢業後要在美國工作的機會是大不如前所以我要有心理準備
另外他們的on-line chat也提到去年他們US News的排名一下躍升到23名
應該跟他們亮眼的就業率有關
但是她也提醒那是因為她們哪一屆收了很多原本就是經理人的學生進去
所以當然畢業後的就業也會不錯

IMHO, I think we should choose our school based on personal fit rather than some rankings. Rankings vary drastically year by year and fluctuate just like stocks, they are good for reference only. We don't want our fate to be decided by some random numbers, do we?? ;))

You are definitely right. I only refer to the rankings rather than rely on the rankings. However, it is hard for me to make decision now because either SMU or Texas A&M offers great program with its own strength.
