Hi,
I am international student who is torn between applying in the second round vs. early third round. For international students, is applying in the 3rd round is strict no-no?
I feel that I may not be able to get my essays fully ready by January 4. Given that the admission process is rolling, would I be in a significantly disadvantaged position if I were to apply a couple of weeks later, i.e. by January 20th?
Thanks,
Rahul

Hi Rahul,
We don't have a policy against international applicants applying in the third round, rather, as Jit said, that we have found it helpful for both the applicant and us to have the extra time regarding visa issues.
The third round is the most competative of the three - but 10 - 15% of students are admitted from that round. A really well prepared application in the third round would be better than a mediocre application in the second round, but only you can determine where your application is on January 4th.
Decision release dates will be the same for all three rounds regardless of when you submit. We do encourage you to submit your application when it is ready rather than waiting for the deadline date.

Hello,
I have always been told that any admissions round past 2 lowers the chances of acceptance into any program greatly. Since Haas has 4 Rounds, can I ask how many spots will still be open for the 3rd Round? Does this Round have as many spots as Round 2?
Thank you.

We do not have exact quotas for the number of applicants we will admit in any given round. This really depends on the quality of the overall pool. In past years, we have admitted applicants in every single round; although fewer in the last two rounds. (Of course, we usually receive a smaller number of applicants in the last two rounds as well.)
Applicants are encouraged to apply in the earliest round possible. However, we also encourage you to apply only when you are able to submit the strongest application possible. Although there is no particular preference given to applications submitted in Round 1, applications are reviewed in the order received, and it is possible that many of the offers of admission will be made from Rounds 1 and 2.
