Interviewer: Ms. Lindsay Coe (Admissions Office)
Location: Hong Kong
Length: about 35 minutes
Lindsay has reviewed my resume, but not my whole application package, before the interview. Her interview style is kind of conversational. Will extend questions from my answers.
- Introduce your background including why you chose your undergraduate major and jobs.
- Why MBA
- Criteria to choose schools
I incorporated 'Why Yale' into the answer to this question.
- Have you considered the MBA programs in Europe or Asia? Why or why not.
- What do you think will be the challenges in your MBA education?
- What do you do outside work?
My hobbies are also my extracurricular activities in the resume, so the topic extend to my club experience.
- What qualities are you most proud of?
I think this question can also be interpreted as 'what are your strengths' and 'what can you contribute to Yale community'.
- Is there anything else you want to talk about?
The special part of this interview is that a written test is included. A topic is given, 5 minutes to complete one paragraph. The question is not as serious as the essay but more like TOFEL writing test.
Lindsay also explained the reviewing process. After the interview, she will write a report. The application files will be read by two people and then returned to the committee for final decision in a random order. Hence, some applicants' results will be released earlier while others later.
Good luck to everyone!!
