In terms of work experience look at any and all experiences you have including part time work, volunteer work, helping in the family business... All those experiences qualify as work experience and when described in a meaningful way and how it relates to your future goals can be powerful.
Also, as long as you can clearly and specifically articulate your career goals and relate your military experiences to those goals, you'll be in good shape. I went to Duke's Fuqua School of Business only a few years ago and in my class there were several students with military backgrounds, and in my own job hunting, a lot of companies favor those with military experience. There are so many good examples that you can bring from those experiences that relate to business i.e. leadership, how you deal with adversity, functioning in a team environment, etc...
