highly regard the question Charlene asked
it's an extremely tricky question
it's related back to the article transcripted from China
why the best students have to study in best schools?
there're several dimensions to discuss this topic
from the school side
the most a career management center in school can do is to invite as many recruitors as posible to career fairs
and keep good relationship among them by excellence of student quality
at the mean time try every endeavor to prepare each student for their career striving
by career improving sessions, resume and interview techniques, mock cases...etc.
and the career statistics are self-reported from graduates
even though by post-graduate tracking from schools
it's still up to the free will of these random-minded graduates
it's also very very hard to help students find out their career fit
or improving their resumes from vague awarenesses about themselves
it takes enormous efforts to conduct in depth talent management
the salary of staff in career management center are all from tuition
it means not so much resources and personnel to proactively examine students career by individual
from recruitor side
the fastest way and the most reliable way is from the examples set by alumni
also from networking of MBA candidate
location also matters
while companys have certain preference to particular schools' graduates
sometimes for no specific reason
only from reputation or even rumors
but when recruitors are considering job applicants from different schools
personal value package such as job-specific capabilities, passions and attitudes, career goals, personalities, business behaviors
are fundamentally weighted heavier than school titles
but from the most important dimension
it's upon individual student him/herself
particularly when we're discussing about MBA students from our very own country
Taiwanese community is a very tricky pool
there's a particular pattern for major opinion stream
that from this pool it gathers and generates numerous program contibutors who can significantly support the program sustainability finacially
while recruiting in the U.S. is not the critical issue for this pool
even though almost all of us are claiming it is
easier said than done
there're definately bouches of geniuses from Taiwan
while career fit is determinated by career hustle
in depth self-awareness + clear career path to specific goal + job-specific capabilities + passion for specific career
it's still individual hardwork
not by average or posibility
no matter from which country
you can see a group of Taiwanese go to career fair
one Taiwanese tried all his effort revising dozens of resumes for specific jobs and 70+ interviews
while others go to KTV at night
no wonder that guy can select the ideal company from a hand of offers
