Dear David,

Thanks for your reminding ^^
If I have time, I don't mind to post some useful info or give any help to the new applicants who is like me always confuse the MBA rules.I believe maybe some other people would read this thread and can give them some insights.

I am going crazy here because of lots of pressure and case study work.
No time to hang out and surf Internet.
How about you?
Hope you can enjoy the MBA application game ... haha

I'm not sure whether the career paths of Tepper grads are strongly influenced by the curriculum in the Tepper school. It's still too early for me to answer this question. However, according to the survey done by the Wall Street Journal this year, Tepper (CMU) grads are ranked #3 by recruiters in terms preferrence. In fact, CMU has long been well ranked in this survey. Last year, our position was #2.

To be honest, I personally agree that our curriculum is too quantative oriented. So it's not strange to me that recruiters' comments over Tepper students are:
Very strong analytical skills
Good team workers
Not very good at socializing
Not "big-picture" people

Recruiters know that Tepper students are not good with case interviews, a typical interview approach employed by consulting firms. However, there are still quite a lot of Tepper grads (I can't remember the exact stats) get offers from consulting firms. And, as far as I know, recruiters like us mainly because we are very "down-to-earth". I personally hate bullshiting. That's why I choose the Tepper School.

Is it a waste for Taiwanese students to study in a very quantative oriented program? I can only say that we are studying in a business program rather than in an engineering department. What we really learn is not about math, but about how to solve business problems by analytical approaches. That's also Tepper's (CMU's) best known strength. In fact, even though I am from an engineering background, I still feel quite challenging to cope with the course works here.

I think most MBA programs provide their students with many elective courses fitting different interests. If you really intend to improve your qualitative skills (or any other skills), you can always take as many related ellective courses as you like. The most important issue for you is to make sure that you and the school you choose are a good fit in terms culture, style of leraning/teaching, career aspirations, etc.
