有申請2007年商學院博士班的朋友嗎？

Just finished a phone interview........really exhausted right now.

Here are some questions:

1. Your research interest
2. Why this school - I think I didn't answer well on this one.
3. What's your career goal after you earn a PhD
4. Your previous research experience

The professor said that I was in the top30% of the school's applicants. But the school will accept the top10%. He is not sure whether I am in the top10%. He is not comfortable to comment and needs to discuss with other faculty.

Unfortunately, I just noticed from a website saying that USC PhD in marketing had completed some phone interviews. Does anyone applying to this program also got such interview? So bad that I have not got any response from any school yet.

I will disclose the school's name after the school makes the final decision. Sorry for this and thank you for understanding.

In fact, I think I screwed up on the first question, "why this school?" When I started with 'your school is very resourceful...' The professor interupted, '"resourceful"?, I don't think the school is "resourceful." We don't have a complete program in entrepreneurship. It's "I" who have research interests in entrepreneurship. I am trying to provide as many resources as possible to PhD students who have interest in entrepreneurship....blah blah blah...'

This school is not the one that I want to get in the most, but it's on my "safe list." I don't know what to do if I did screw up on this one...

I got my second interview request this morning, after finishing the first interview last night. The email is weired, I think, not so positive:

"The Admissions Committee has met and screened our applicants for the Ph.D. Program. We have some excellent candidates, but the Committee was impressed with your background, interests, and focus. Our process involves us now conducting personal interviews with the remaining candidates. As such, we would like to invite you for an interview with the Committee. We would like to conduct this interview in person, but that may not be viable for you. Given the distance, we would be happy to do it by telephone."

Since the school already has excellent candidates and is conducting interviews with the "remaining" candidates, does this mean I am on its "waiting list"? I can't understand, and the email made me feel really bad....

真的會讓人做什麼事都不能專心, 都提不起勁呢....

I think this e-mail is not that bad, hsudk. Althought the ADcom conducted interviews with some candidates, they may not be very happy regarding their performances or backgrounds. Since Adcom is still interested in speaking with you, it definitely is your chance to give a shot. Do your best and make it happen!!

I got a phone interview from one of the top schools. However, the professor did not mention it's an official interview but just say "I would like to talk about your application to our program." The interview completed within 15 minutes because the interview pace was very fast.

The basic questions are:

Why Ph.D.?
Why xxx School?
Your research experience?
Your research interest?

The questions further went very details to my research. I didn't ask any question about admission so I have no idea when the result will annouce.

After one good new, I got a bad news last night. MSU sent a rejected letter.....

I think this e-mail is not that bad, hsudk. Althought the ADcom conducted interviews with some candidates, they may not be very happy regarding their performances or backgrounds. Since Adcom is still interested in speaking with you, it definitely is your fat chance to give a shot. Do your best and make it happen!!

I agree with Charlene. I don't how PH.D. program application process really works, but it looks to me that the first interview with professor is the "screen interview", a way for the Adcom to screen out some applicants. The remaining applicants the Adcom would like to talk to them in person, but in your case, due to distance, they would offer you the second interview via telephone as well. Treat it as applying job; You just made to the second round of interview! Good luck and just do your best. You may impress the Adcom enough to accept you.
