 School looking for Personal qualities, academic performance, professional achievements
 Podcast about interview and application tips are available
 Chances: R1=R2
 Can take 6 credits outside b-school
 Silicon Valley impacts the program a lot, close interaction with executives and entrepreneurs.
 Team work training: Assigned 5-member team in 1st semester.
 No disadvantage to retake GMAT. Only highest score counts.
 No specific # of admission offers, depends on overall competitiveness of the application pool.
 Looking for key qualities: Collaborative, passionate, involved and engaged, creative…etc
 Hard to predict application volume this year at this time.
 Interview by invitation only, on- and off-campus interview conducted by current students and alumni.
 Invitation are sent out around 4 to 6 weeks after deadlines.
 2 yr exp but shows progression and increased responsibilities could be enough.
 Mid 80% from 3 to 8 yr exp., 10% below 3 yr—quality is more important than quantity.
 50% career switchers, so please include how an MBA can help you achieve that goal.
 Entrepreneurship incubator: Berkeley Entrepreneurship Lab, and Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and innovation.
 Ok to mention short-term goal companies, but not necessary.
 Holistic process, we admit people but not GMAT scores.
 Quant can be demonstrated by GMAT math subscore, also by course taken.
 Being laid off is not negative factor, but should not be the only reason to apply.
 There’s supposed to be an increase of applicants, but not to be expected as a fearful level.
 Financial crisis has limited impact on recruiting, but has significant impact on loans.
 Age is not a consideration in the admission process. 24 to 38 of ages is the range for current students.
 Interview are blind.
 Looking for individuals who develop leadership and are active members of community. A track record is a good indicator.
 Please include most current info of the company, even if it no longer works.
 About 15% students are awarded scholarship.
 General management is the strongest field. Create, management, and lead org that value and promote innovation.
 Review beginning Nov. 4 and in random order.
 Haas offers significant career service, but has no power influencing international students to stay in States after graduation.
 Looking for substantive change and improvement from previous application. Will evaluate reapplicants as 1st timers.
 Looking for specific examples that can support claims of performance in recommendation letters.
 Student-initiated courses available.
