因為2/17是最後通知日

剛剛一個朋友告訴我他被錄取了
我就想好吧不然我也來check一下好了
結果意外發現我被錄取了!
真是太神奇了....

你有沒有什麼好的建議呢?
Duke的高排名(相對ucla)及超友善的環境(我朋友去過讚不絕口)很誘人
但LA is really attractive!
或許要等我多和一些學生談過才能決定吧...

My two cents for these two schools:

for Ranking-

UCLA #14(BW) #12 (US news) #26 (FT)
Duke #11(BW) #11 #18

其實這兩間的排名除了FT以外差別不大。
但是UCLA的地點，天氣，及在台灣的高知名度都很吸引人
相較於UCLA, Duke在台灣的branding就沒那麼強

Class size 兩者差不多一個400 一個300
畢業生就業情況兩個在IB以及MC的數目也都差不多，DUKE在IB稍微多一點

如果我來選，我應該會選UCLA吧

我打算到兩間學校看看(之前我沒有做campus visit)再做決定
但是LA如你所說真是一個絕好的地點 <:o)

順道一提
我認識的三個Fuqua applicants (including myself)
都拿到offer了 :laugh

今年真是卯起來收呀
大陸那邊更是多呢.....

1. As an old saying -- Ranking is NOT everything

2. Even it is, these two schools are actually of the same tier

3. Take their specialty into consideration, neither of them is good at your prospective field.

4. About Environment: I am not saying LA is a paradise, but you better check Durham out as I did... However, it is a different story if you like to drive 30 min every weekend to Chapel Hill :smile

5. Post-MBA geo advantage: You don't wanna work in the South, do you?

6. Alumni Network: For a Chinese in Asia, NO school beats UCLA except USC <:o)

7. Really useful Alumni Network: For a Chinese in Asia, UCLA won't give you as much as you wish, while Duke might give you less.

8. Brand name: In the States, Duke is more, if not much more, prestigeous than UCLA. Outside the States, try both name to all your friends in random. :^)

Gonna address some merits of Duke here.

1. Unmatchable edge of biotech business management.
2. The campus is extraordinary, it is like living in a Gothic castle. If you really love a quaint setting, you can't miss Duke and Yale.
3. People are from-the-heart friendly and energetic, like most of other respected b-schools in the South.
