Firstly, let me say that Atlanta is by far much safer than you thought and Emory locates in the northeastern to downtown Atlanta where is a comparatively speaking a community for wealthier people thus even more safer. I tried walking home from School after 1 in the morning and really nothing happened. Saying so, I don't mean there is no crimes, but isn't it the headache of all US major metropolis?
Secondly, as for job searching, I should say you will get very efficient help from all possible channels, your classmates, the second year students, the career management center (CMC), the alumni, the international student office, your professors, etc. The director of the CMC is a former banker at Goldman Sachs, and her network with bankers on the Street really helped a lot to strengthen the presence of Emroy students and alumni. As I said in other postings, current students, esp. international ones, have obtained offers from Goldman Sachs, J. P. Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Bros., Bear Stern, UBS, Banc of America Securities. As for consulting, people go to McKinsey, Bain, BCG, AT Kearney. If you want to work for corporate, I should say it is a little bit more difficult, since this is true for all US B-schools that a lot of corporates don't hire international students, but students obtained offers from Johnson & Johnson, IBM, DuPont, UPS, Coke, etc. And those big names are just a partial list of all the recruiters.
Thirdly which is very important, the amazing people on campus will make the experience here unforgettable. The sense of community and the intimate relationship between classmates, students and professors, faculty and the management of the school are just great. Get ready to get help and to offer yours is one of the very things you should prepare before you come, :)

In common sense and statistic,it is much tougher for int'l students or even local ones to land jobs in IBs or other banking than in industrial corporations.
Besides,it seems Emory is a very very good choice based on his information.Good luck.
