You can research how other people 總結 in CD or 傷心咖啡店. :) Different sections have different ways to 總結.
RC take notes... Then I found that the trick is really nothing but trash. I will give you my reasons first and then share my own personal experience.
Reasons not to take notes:
1. You don't have time. Why? Think about it. What you need to take notes during a RC? 1). I need to understand the passage. 2). I need to convert the passage into my own words or image in my head. 3). I have to convert whatever in my head back to words again. 4). I have to spend time writing the sentence. 4 Steps! Does it make sense to you?
2. If you have time to take notes during the exam, that means your verbal is already very strong (since you are doing the exam so fast). If I were you, I would use the extra time reading the passage more carefully and analyze the structure more thoroughly rather than waste time taking notes.
3. Taking notes breaks your rhythm reading the passage. And having a good rhythm, in my opinion, is really one of the keys that I do well in the exam.
4. Now, even if you take notes, you will not have time to review them once you get to the questions.
My own experience taking notes:
At first, 我乖乖地照Kaplan教我的, and take notes for every single passage. I also write down the main idea, topic sentence, and scope at the end of my summary. The results? I never have time looking back to my notes.
My Kaplan teacher told me that taking notes will help you to analyze the structure. True. But I think that taking notes is the trick for 650. If you want to score above 700, I think that you MUST When I read a passage, I also position all the critical points in my head. If I need to refer back to the passage to answer the question, I can always position the info really quickly.
So how do you train your short-term memory? My way is... Critical reading is really the key to do well in RC. When you 總結, you have to keep asking yourself how to critically read the passage.
I am really against notes. I really doubt if those GMAT teachers who teach their students to take notes in the exam can score above 700+ themselves. I hate it so much because I have wasted so much time trying to master this unless technique. >.<
Hope this will help!
