如果選an的話，不就變成2個句子沒有連接詞了嗎？
是因為(which were) an....這樣嗎？覺得怪怪的耶....

(1872年時美國有70所工程學院，因為一個大部分可歸因於1862Morrill Act的驚人擴張)

1. 驚人擴張是啥的擴張？與主要子句看不出關聯
2. because和credit to意思重複

用文法解的話，becasue後面缺乏動詞，credited只是過去分詞
例句: The accident was credited to carelessness on the part of the driver.
(這起事故是由於駕駛人的不小心所引起的)


ps: 這題的出處是....? 寫出來比較方便版主整理喔

credited只是pp，逗點後本來就不是句子結構

(1872年時美國有70所工程學院，因為一個大部分可歸因於1862Morrill Act的驚人擴張)

1. 驚人擴張是啥的擴張？與主要子句看不出關聯
2. because和credit to意思重複

至於a的確容易乍看之下被選...

文法沒問題...但是句意上不正確
