請問B選項為何不能改成what(=the thing that, 把the thing當agree的受詞)
記得老師有說過不能改成what, 但不記得是為什麼?

為何此句是what, 而不能是that呢? 又其中的what=the thing that, 那麼the thing　是當describe的受詞還是brought about的受詞呢?

it 是假主詞，後面要接that子句或不定詞(to + V.)來當真主詞。is 是主要動詞，agreed 在這裡並不是動詞，而是過去分詞(當adj) 形容 it，表示後面的句子是"被認同的"。

其實可以分解為：
In his "Film Criticism," Tim Bywater describes what he considers the antisocial hostility of viewrs brought about by film violence and unreality.

從describes 之後的部分都是做它的受詞，主要部分是 the antisocial hostility of viewrs。紅色部分是修飾 the antisocial hostility of viewrs，意思是"他所認為的"，後面也在修飾the antisocial hostility of viewrs，意思是"由影片暴力和虛幻所帶來的"，brought 是過去分詞而非動詞，前面省略了 which is。
若用that 的話，是要有動詞存在的，這裡顯然沒有。

但是我還是有點困惑, 你說若用that 的話，要有動詞存在, 那我不能將它分解為以下這樣嗎:

從describes 之後的部分都是做它的受詞, that子句中, considers當動詞, the antisocial hostility of viewrs當consider的受詞, 而(brought about.....)同樣是往前修飾the antisocial hostility of viewrs

請問我這樣分解哪裡出了問題呢? 謝謝你!

如果你如此改寫，會有兩個問題：
1. 句意改變：原句是describe(描述)the antisocial hostility of viewrs，改寫後便成describe(描述) 他認為........(that 子句的內容)。
2. 文法有瑕疵：consider的用法是
a. consider A B
A 和 B 都是名詞，意思是把A視為B。
b. consider that 子句
c. be considered + Noun
d. consider oneself + Adj.

但你改寫的句子都不是上述任一。

我自己是解成: the thing 當describe的受詞, 而關代that就是considers的受詞, 但若撇開主要子句(Tim Bywater describe the thing)不談, 關代子句還原後又變怪怪的, 會變成 (he considers the thing the antisocial ........... ) 這樣的用法, 似乎都不符合你所列出的consider四大用法!

既然你已經豁然開朗，就不要硬把what拆成the thing that。我不知道教你的老師是幫你還是害你，但我自己從沒學過這個方法。在我看來，what he considers 是很普通的用法，建議(強烈建議)你要習慣這樣子的英文。

但我的程度很差, 沒辦法一眼就能判斷出what he conciders在此句中所扮演的角色為何, 所以每次都要把what拆成the thing that後,再來分析句子~

如果在考試前還不習慣的話，可以把中間插入的 what he considers, what they think, what you say.......等等蓋住，裝作沒看到，會很好解題。
