and之前後兩句平衡對稱
年齡對年齡
主詞對主詞(同為Mary)

你這樣說我還是不大清楚整個結構，尤其是後面 and when....., she saw her.....這不是一個從屬子句嗎？可否再說明清楚一點。如為從屬子句，為何還會有and

前後分別為兩個句子（主要動詞分別為had和saw）
1.At thirteen Mary Jane Hawes had her first heaching position at a district school near her home
2.when she was fifteen, she saw her first article in print.
所以在這兩個句子中間必須有一連接詞(and)!!
至於when she was fifteen為副詞子句用來說明she saw her first article in print的時間
