Former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew is alive, said Farah Rahim, senior director for the Singapore Ministry of Communications and Information. The 91-year-old, who has been in a hospital with pneumonia since February 5, is in critical condition, the government has said.
A message purporting to be from the current Prime Minister circulated online Wednesday saying that Lee had died. CNN published that news on its breaking news Twitter account before updating the account to quote Singapore's government spokesman dismissing the news as a hoax. The network has since deleted the original tweet.
"We have reported this to the police and they are investigating this hoax. Our website was not hacked, it was a doctored image," the spokesman said.

hoax (n. 惡作劇；騙局)起源不可考，較可信的說法是可能來自hocus-pocus中的hocus(見
http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=hoax)，hocus-pocus表花招或詭計，hoax call 就是惡作劇電話。
prank也是惡作劇，與hoax有一點小差別：hoax可大可小, 目的是欺騙，prank則通常是一個小trick, 可以是好玩的或惡意的.

2015-03-17晚上，全世界的高緯度地區來了一場20年來最強大的極光(aurora)爆發，美麗的景象令人讚嘆不已。
地磁暴的強度達到了僅次於最強的G4級！極光指數也達到了Kp 8.9的強度！

為什麼學習拉丁語的人增多是好事呢？會拉丁語就能體察到埋藏在西方世界表層下的古羅馬地層，等待你的將是500年的西方文學，以及數千年的拉丁語詩歌和散文。
英國記者哈利•芒特（Harry Mount）小時候學過拉丁語，他寫了一本關於拉丁語的普及讀物，去年在英國首版，副標題叫“如何愛上拉丁語”，日前推出的美國版的書名是《抓住今天：在生活中用一點拉丁語》（Carpe Diem[ˈkɑrpɪ ˈdiɛm]： Put a Little Latin in Your Life）。
《紐約客》的文章說，36歲的哈利-芒特畢業于牛津大學，9歲起在學校學習拉丁語，他深深體會到了懂拉丁語的好處，“懂拉丁語就像戴了一副X光眼鏡，無論到哪兒，都能體會到知識帶來的樂趣”。
比如在參觀大都會博物館的古希臘羅馬藝術館新館時，他對著一根愛奧尼亞式立柱沉思道：“記住dick這個詞很有用，如果你能原諒它的粗俗的話(註：dick在俚語裏指陰莖/笨蛋﹐討厭鬼〔尤指男人〕)。多利安式、愛奧尼亞式、科林斯式、複合式的首字母縮寫是DICC。愛奧尼亞式是一種很女性化的風格，就像女孩子的卷髮。”

[解] 注意例句裡above的用法，above + Ving指 “比…高尚，而不願做某事”。
反之，若是not above + Ving就變成 “不惜做某事”。
例句的翻譯是：他不惜使用欺騙手法來贏得選票。

不曉得大家都看過正火熱的《玩命關頭》系列電影(movie franchise)《玩命關頭7》(Fast and Furious 7)了沒有？作為主角之一的保羅沃克最後遺作，相信大家看到最後都淚灑戲院。有了粉絲們的義氣助陣，不到短短一週就已經在全球突破了高達近4億票房，創下《玩命關頭》全系列首週票房新高。

未來是能力取代學歷的時代，這已經不是一個口號或是願景，而是真真實實的動名詞。
聯考時代，大家認為擁有好學歷就等同於取得好工作的保證，現在台灣大學生卻是失業率最高的族群，企業不再重視學歷了嗎？這樣的趨勢不只台灣，連創新企業Google也不再看成績徵才。「透過巨集資料分析，Google發現，聘僱員工的關鍵條件中，『在學成績』和『考試成績』完全沒有意義。過去，應徵Google必須交成績單，現在已經取消。因為成績不能預測任何事。」這是去年中，美國《紐約時報》專訪Google資深人資副總裁拉斯洛˙柏克（Laszlo Bock），討論Google從網路巨集資料裡看到的重要趨勢。
Google部門員工有一四％沒大學學歷
柏克進一步分析，就算是剛從學校畢業的社會新鮮人，學業的表現和工作能力也只有微乎其微的關聯。「Google有些部門裡，甚至有高達一四％的員工沒有大學學位，」柏克說。
Google無疑是網路時代最創新、最有影響力的企業代表之一。人性化的工作條件和優渥的待遇，吸引全世界頂尖人才加入。因此，Google人資主管登高一呼：「學位和考試成績與工作能力無關，」引起國際媒體的關注。那麼，Google到底看重什麼？頂尖企業要什麼樣的人？在學的學生又該如何準備？
因此，今年二月《紐約時報》的專欄作家、《世界是平的》一書作者托馬斯˙佛里曼（Thomas Friedman），決定親自拜訪柏克，代表廣大的父母請教柏克：「成績不重要！那麼我的小孩，到底要具備什麼條件才能到Goolgle上班呢？」?
二月份《紐約時報》登出佛里曼的訪談專欄，柏克首先提醒佛里曼：「成績好並不是一件壞事，只是現在還有很多更重要的能力。」?
柏克分析，學生在學的成績和面試時知識性的考試成績變得一點也不重要，主要有兩個原因：第一，開始工作後，多數的人都應該學習並成長，思考會變得不同，加上世界變化這麼快，學校學的東西幾年後根本和工作上所需能力截然不同。第二，學校的學習環境基本上是一種人工虛擬的環境。能在這種人工虛擬環境中變成勝利組的學生，是被訓練出來的。
「太多大學無法教學生原本承諾要教會的能力。到頭來，大學生活只是青春期的延長，大學生畢業只得到一大筆助學貸款，沒學到任何對生命有幫助的事情，」柏克對佛里曼說。
不只是美國的創新企業代表發出了「從重視學歷到重視能力」的呼籲，無獨有偶，同樣在今年二月，台積電董事長張忠謀也在《天下雜誌》經濟論壇中，對與會的亞洲企業領袖高分貝的提醒：「為考試學習、為學位學習，是培養不出人才的！為考試學習，畢業後大家都不學習了。學校的畢業典禮應該都改成開始典禮。讓我們從學校畢業後，仍舊主動為自己而學、為樂趣而學。這樣一代以後，我們就會培養出好的人才了！」
Google找人才，先看四個條件
佛里曼從和柏克的對談中，整理出Google對於人才的四個條件。
1.學習的能力比IQ更重要。學習的能力指的是執行力和整合訊息的能力。Google會透過行為訪談來確認應徵者是否具備學習的能力。譬如問：「你曾經如何解決一個困難的挑戰？」
2.彈性的領導力。這個領導力，並不是指傳統認知中，曾擔任過某某社團社長的經歷、或是在多短的時間內從業務升到副總經理。「這些我們都不在乎，」柏克說。Google看重的是，當你所屬的團隊遇到問題時，你能否在恰當的時機挺身而出，更關鍵的是，能否在對的時間退出，讓更適合的人領導。因為能夠捨棄權力，更是關鍵的領導力。
3.謙虛和當責。網路平台上，階級被抹平，所有人都站在平等的地位。工作終極目標是團隊合作，貢獻各自的能力，一起解決問題。謙虛不只是性格的謙虛，還有智識的謙虛，有這樣的特質才能不斷學習。必須同時擁有大的自我和小的自我的合體。
4.最後才是專業。柏克提到，當然，若是你應徵財務人員或人資專員，這些工作需要相當的專業背景知識。但是，為什麼這是Google人才四條件中最後被提起的？
柏克指出，因為專業人士看待問題時，總會想：「喔！這個我看過一百次了！」每次總是會提出標準對策。但是，非專業人士，極有可能也會提出正確的標準對策，因為多數的情況沒有那麼困難。偶爾非專業的人士會搞砸，或提出讓人意想不到的全新答案。「這就有極大的價值！」柏克說。
這幾年企業對於人才的焦慮普遍且全面。三月份中央銀行總裁彭淮南在立法院答詢年輕人的低薪危機時，彭淮南說：「問題在教育。」
比考高分更重要的三個能力
問題若是出在教育，改變的方向是什麼？
二０一三年，美國密西根州立大學教授樸亞˙米夏（Punya Mishra）和團隊發表了一篇論文，檢視到底何謂「二十一世紀的學習」，他們發現，基本上，二十一世紀學習有三個主要目標。
1.基礎知識力（foundational knowledge）。就是學生該知道什麼？基礎知識力有三個面向，包括：一、基礎核心知識，如讀寫算這類傳統的學習內容，透過學會這些知識，可以解決天天會遇到的日常問題。二、數位閱讀素養，在網路上有能力篩選整合以及判斷訊息。三、跨領域的知識，可以結合和連結不同領域的訊息，發現新角度、新問題和新的解決方案。
2.知識執行力（meta-knowledge）。指的是知道如何運用基礎知識的能力。也同樣有三個面向：一、解決問題和批判思考力。批判思考力的背後是解讀資訊和基於訊息決策的能力。解決問題的能力則是能運用批判思考針對特定問題找到特定答案。二、溝通和合作力以及三、創意和創新力。
3.人文素養。從相關的文獻整理發現，有人文素養的學習者能對於自已和所存在的社會和世界的關係，有一個清楚的願景。人文素養的三個面向是：一、領導力，包括可以主導自己的目標和團隊的領導。二、文化素養，對於個人的、人際的和跨文化的文化有辨別的敏感度。因為二十一世紀在網路的世界有太多多元的跨文化合作及整合。如何擁有寬容的文化素養，才能有最大的創新機會。三、倫理和情緒的覺察力，在未來多元文化的世界中，擁有高敏感的覺察感官，可以做出最正確的判斷，納入不同的意見，增加創新的機會，是勝出的重要關鍵。
過去獨尊考試和只看文憑的時代已經一去不復返。當Google能搜尋到所有資訊與標準答案，當學歷隨著少子化而變得通貨膨脹，在全球化和科技化，運作愈來愈複雜的未來世界裡，「能力的教育」，將勝過「學歷的教育」，成為未來人才培育的關鍵。如同佛里曼在專欄中的結語：「學歷不是你工作能力的證書。世界只在乎你能做什麼？和你懂什麼？至於你是如何學到的，不是重點。」?

因此，今年二月《紐約時報》的專欄作家、《世界是平的》一書作者托馬斯˙佛里曼（Thomas Friedman），決定親自拜訪柏克，代表廣大的父母請教柏克：「成績不重要！那麼我的小孩，到底要具備什麼條件才能到Goolgle上班呢？」?
二月份《紐約時報》登出佛里曼的訪談專欄，柏克首先提醒佛里曼：「成績好並不是一件壞事，只是現在還有很多更重要的能力。」?
柏克分析，學生在學的成績和面試時知識性的考試成績變得一點也不重要，主要有兩個原因：第一，開始工作後，多數的人都應該學習並成長，思考會變得不同，加上世界變化這麼快，學校學的東西幾年後根本和工作上所需能力截然不同。第二，學校的學習環境基本上是一種人工虛擬的環境。能在這種人工虛擬環境中變成勝利組的學生，是被訓練出來的。
「太多大學無法教學生原本承諾要教會的能力。到頭來，大學生活只是青春期的延長，大學生畢業只得到一大筆助學貸款，沒學到任何對生命有幫助的事情，」柏克對佛里曼說。
不只是美國的創新企業代表發出了「從重視學歷到重視能力」的呼籲，無獨有偶，同樣在今年二月，台積電董事長張忠謀也在《天下雜誌》經濟論壇中，對與會的亞洲企業領袖高分貝的提醒：「為考試學習、為學位學習，是培養不出人才的！為考試學習，畢業後大家都不學習了。學校的畢業典禮應該都改成開始典禮。讓我們從學校畢業後，仍舊主動為自己而學、為樂趣而學。這樣一代以後，我們就會培養出好的人才了！」
Google找人才，先看四個條件
佛里曼從和柏克的對談中，整理出Google對於人才的四個條件。
1.學習的能力比IQ更重要。學習的能力指的是執行力和整合訊息的能力。Google會透過行為訪談來確認應徵者是否具備學習的能力。譬如問：「你曾經如何解決一個困難的挑戰？」
2.彈性的領導力。這個領導力，並不是指傳統認知中，曾擔任過某某社團社長的經歷、或是在多短的時間內從業務升到副總經理。「這些我們都不在乎，」柏克說。Google看重的是，當你所屬的團隊遇到問題時，你能否在恰當的時機挺身而出，更關鍵的是，能否在對的時間退出，讓更適合的人領導。因為能夠捨棄權力，更是關鍵的領導力。
3.謙虛和當責。網路平台上，階級被抹平，所有人都站在平等的地位。工作終極目標是團隊合作，貢獻各自的能力，一起解決問題。謙虛不只是性格的謙虛，還有智識的謙虛，有這樣的特質才能不斷學習。必須同時擁有大的自我和小的自我的合體。
4.最後才是專業。柏克提到，當然，若是你應徵財務人員或人資專員，這些工作需要相當的專業背景知識。但是，為什麼這是Google人才四條件中最後被提起的？
柏克指出，因為專業人士看待問題時，總會想：「喔！這個我看過一百次了！」每次總是會提出標準對策。但是，非專業人士，極有可能也會提出正確的標準對策，因為多數的情況沒有那麼困難。偶爾非專業的人士會搞砸，或提出讓人意想不到的全新答案。「這就有極大的價值！」柏克說。
這幾年企業對於人才的焦慮普遍且全面。三月份中央銀行總裁彭淮南在立法院答詢年輕人的低薪危機時，彭淮南說：「問題在教育。」
比考高分更重要的三個能力
問題若是出在教育，改變的方向是什麼？
二０一三年，美國密西根州立大學教授樸亞˙米夏（Punya Mishra）和團隊發表了一篇論文，檢視到底何謂「二十一世紀的學習」，他們發現，基本上，二十一世紀學習有三個主要目標。
1.基礎知識力（foundational knowledge）。就是學生該知道什麼？基礎知識力有三個面向，包括：一、基礎核心知識，如讀寫算這類傳統的學習內容，透過學會這些知識，可以解決天天會遇到的日常問題。二、數位閱讀素養，在網路上有能力篩選整合以及判斷訊息。三、跨領域的知識，可以結合和連結不同領域的訊息，發現新角度、新問題和新的解決方案。
2.知識執行力（meta-knowledge）。指的是知道如何運用基礎知識的能力。也同樣有三個面向：一、解決問題和批判思考力。批判思考力的背後是解讀資訊和基於訊息決策的能力。解決問題的能力則是能運用批判思考針對特定問題找到特定答案。二、溝通和合作力以及三、創意和創新力。
3.人文素養。從相關的文獻整理發現，有人文素養的學習者能對於自已和所存在的社會和世界的關係，有一個清楚的願景。人文素養的三個面向是：一、領導力，包括可以主導自己的目標和團隊的領導。二、文化素養，對於個人的、人際的和跨文化的文化有辨別的敏感度。因為二十一世紀在網路的世界有太多多元的跨文化合作及整合。如何擁有寬容的文化素養，才能有最大的創新機會。三、倫理和情緒的覺察力，在未來多元文化的世界中，擁有高敏感的覺察感官，可以做出最正確的判斷，納入不同的意見，增加創新的機會，是勝出的重要關鍵。
過去獨尊考試和只看文憑的時代已經一去不復返。當Google能搜尋到所有資訊與標準答案，當學歷隨著少子化而變得通貨膨脹，在全球化和科技化，運作愈來愈複雜的未來世界裡，「能力的教育」，將勝過「學歷的教育」，成為未來人才培育的關鍵。如同佛里曼在專欄中的結語：「學歷不是你工作能力的證書。世界只在乎你能做什麼？和你懂什麼？至於你是如何學到的，不是重點。」?
過去，應徵Google必須交成績單，但現在已經取消，因為成績不能預測任何事。
運作愈來愈複雜的未來世界裡，能力的教育將勝過學歷的教育。

不是矽谷比台灣厲害，而是矽谷人充滿了野心與夢想！
關於矽谷的種種，他說：「陽光太豔，空氣太清新，階級扁平，溝通直率，官大學問不大，只有責任大，讓在台灣土生土長的我經歷不少的震撼教育與文化洗禮。我必須要學著不相信權威，不顧情面，硬起來挑戰身旁卡内基美隆、MIT、史丹佛，或是柏克萊等名門出身的同事，哪怕他是公司的執行長，這才發現人們看你的角度，其實只是你心中看自己角度的延伸。」
在矽谷，讓他領悟一件事，為了成長，你必須砍掉重練，就算30歲才開始也不遲！

2014年十月初，我加入舊金山一間約70人的新創公司擔任工程師。在加入公司後，一個月內執行長被董事會迅速換掉，接著技術性操作裁員20％左右，除此之外，這間公司運作一切正常，就跟一般的新創公司一樣。在矽谷新創公司中，這些波折是見怪不怪的。
加入團隊的第三天，前端部門帶頭的工程師把所有工程師都找來，在會議中宣布，他們要屏棄過去兩年胼手胝足建立起來的程式碼，並且花接下來六個月時間全部重做。「但是他們完全沒有功能上的問題啊，百分之百可以用。難道不能把有缺點的那部分補強或換掉就好了嗎？」有人說。
「不行，我們其實想了很久，之前貪圖快速使用的某個架構，已經把產品未來的發展綁死，我們發現此刻花在『救火』的時間，比花在產品開發上的時間還要多，我們欠了太多的技術債，繼續這樣下去，這些技術負擔會拖垮整個產品。」於是他們採用新的架構，做出簡單的範例，兩者相較之下，新的架構確實比舊的架構快上十倍，也比較穩定。「為了成長，我們必須要償還這些技術債，砍掉重練。」前端技術的負責人操著紐西蘭腔調，一派輕鬆的說著。
公司的首席技術長也在現場，但是他只是靜靜的聽著，似乎早已知道這些技術的細節，也贊成團隊的結論。

技術債的概念相當簡單，在過去成長的過程中，我們會有很多取捨，例如直接借用某個開放原始碼的原件，忽略掉很多當時次要的技術細節，採取某些架構上的捷徑等，讓當時的產品能夠神速地完成，進入市場，快速成長。
但是，這些借用與被忽略的部分，在產品成長到某個階段，當環境稍微改變之後，會在產品發展的道路上埋下地雷，如果踩上去，產品有可能當場爆掉，需要救火，也有可能完全癱瘓團隊在技術上的突破，讓團隊因為一個看似簡單的問題，空轉了好幾天，甚至好幾個禮拜。技術債跟一般的負債一樣，會隨著產品的發展呈現複利成長，你一天不還，它對你的影響力就會增強那麼一點。
若想要將公司或產品推向國際級，就必須要認知且清除那些占了較重分量的技術債，很多時候，你可能要砍掉你所累積的努力，以另一個方式全部重來。
停滯的成長
個人或經濟體的成長也是同樣的道理，前一段時期你叱吒風雲，投入的努力都是以倍數回收，只要輕鬆加把勁，經濟體或是個人就可以往前走得更遠。這時候你會有項羽那種恨天無把，恨地無環的情懷，給你一個支點，差點就可以舉起地球了。
但是，現在你的努力明明是一樣的，不斷加油，卻越來越沒有效率，所有環節都像是被鐵鏽卡住了，動彈不得。於是你增加工時，每天從早上八點工作到晚上八點。你更努力，學士不夠，又再讀碩士，碩士不夠，又讀博士，博士不夠，再拿了雙博士，只希望在成長上有點突破，但是怎麼施力都徒勞無功。
技術債的利息漸漸超越你的施力，環境已經改變，你當初抄的捷徑和當初的能力，已經變為成長的負擔。工時長，可是薪水與GDP的成長卻逐漸停滯，跟母親的碎碎念一樣，經年使用後，現在不管她的力道有多大，都是左耳進、右耳出。
愛因斯坦說：「一直重複做同樣的事情，卻期待有不同結果的那種人，叫做瘋子。」你需要用不一樣的方式尋求突破。
結構性的重整
在軟體工程上，償還技術債的方式不外乎就是「破」與「立」，打破過去賴以為生的認知、假設、工作方式，甚至是程式碼，以新的想法、作法、觀念，以及新的架構重建。
如果你想蓋摩天大樓，不管那三樓的透天厝住起來多麼舒服，都不能把摩天大樓蓋在透天厝的地基上面，你可以把珍貴的家具、擺設，或是盆栽留下來，但是骨幹的部分必須全部重來。
你當然可以賭賭看，用透天厝地基去撐起摩天大樓，但是蓋到六或七樓後，你會把所有力氣放在不斷地鞏固地基，因此很難持續往上走。到了十五樓左右，你會發現這棟樓就是你成長的極限了，每向上蓋一尺都無限困難，所有的精力都花在鞏固搖搖欲墜的架構上。
個人的技術債
承襲上一代的發展哲學，在台灣生長的年輕世代通常會有下列幾項個人成長的技術債：
地域上的技術債
當達爾文航行到引發他思考物種起源的加拉巴哥群島時，他看到島上的物種演化至非常適合在當地的生態生存，但是只要這個島的環境有點變化，這些物種很有可能會因為沒有辦法覓食而滅種。就以海鬣蜥與陸鬣蜥為例。陸鬣蜥可以吃掉並消化有刺的仙人掌，但是他沒有辦法與海鬣蜥一樣，游到海裡去覓食魚類與海藻，儘管兩種蜥蜴有著共同的祖先，而且都棲息於加拉巴哥群島，卻沒有辦法適應彼此的生活環境，如果互換環境，可能會讓兩種蜥蜴集體死亡。
在台灣成長的新世代有點像是這樣，我們所累積和養成的一切，都是為了適應你在台灣的存活與競爭，但是一旦台灣周遭的環境有點改變，以科技產業為例，半導體、光電、PC組裝產業開始外移或凋零，整個世代賴以為生的能力就會慢慢萎縮。
我們必須要走出去，讓自己的基因在全球的大生態系中隨著潮流演化，而不是死守過去的榮耀。
學經歷上的技術債
台灣承襲了傳統中國文化的思考模式，重學歷而輕經歷，人生好像是一張評分表，當你在高學歷那個項目上打勾，或是在大企業工作這個項目上打勾，人生就會一帆風順，社會就會保證你的前途，你就是人生勝利組。
在追求這些大獎的同時，也請不要忘記，這些標竿是建立在行之有年的社會假設上。我們假設電機研究所的學歷在未來三十年還是炙手可熱的，我們假設台灣在未來二十年仍然是面板或是IC設計的霸主，我們假設只要跟著明星企業的腳步走，絕對會擁有無敵的市場競爭力。
但真的是這樣嗎？你放心把人生交給這些假設嗎？
文化上、職場認知上的技術債
在傳統儒家的社會結構裡，我們太習慣接受上級或是長輩所給予的結論。填大學志願的時候乖乖聽話；決定要不要考研究所時乖乖聽話；選擇職業時乖乖聽話；要不要相親乖乖聽話；什麼時候結婚乖乖聽話；儘管很蠢，公司內部決策時乖乖聽話；是否要留下來加班也乖乖聽話。
怎麼掌握人生方向盤的人，好像不是你？這些所謂的長輩或是上級，真的知道現在世界的運行法則嗎？如果他們搞砸了，難道是他們要負責任嗎？
我們必須假設上面技術債全都引爆，各種問題狂撲而來，在這樣的情況下規畫未來，用一個個小小的突破，從根本上擺脫這些技術債。
找到你的突破點！
我不想討論整個社會要如何面對時移世異的問題，因為再如何討論，歸納出來的結論都無法「以個人為單位」來實現。若不是聽起來陳腔濫調，要不就是像過氣的政客，喋喋不休。
我想要討論「如何以個人為基礎」，在職涯上不斷持續的有小突破。主要分為四個部分：
過去的模式不行，就突破吧！不要被以前的模式束縛，新世代要找到自己的態度與方向
我在出國工作後，無法避免地經歷了許多文化衝擊，有可能是該文化找工作的方式、溝通的方式、訓練的方式、升遷的方式等。這些衝擊都會帶領我審視自己習以為常的母國文化，到底是長幼有序，或是官大學問大？到底是群組討論，或是開會只是個單向溝通的一言堂？到底是和諧和睦，或是暗地裡波濤洶湧，山頭林立？到底你的服從能裨益組織，還是通往死亡的快速通道？
有了這些衝擊，你會開始思考與選擇你想要加入，甚至創造的組織環境與文化。
化被動為主動，了解職涯升級的秘訣
在台灣，我們非常相信以下這樣的陳腔濫調：只要我有實力，機會會自己找上門，或是只要乖乖跟著體制往上爬，總有一天會站上制高點。如果你真的照著做，我保證你一定是整個團隊中工作最多，卻是升遷最慢的。
實力會隨著你的歷練成長，所以你應該開始追求歷練，學會運用人際關係，尋找饅頭（英文mentor的諧音，譯作導師）與獵人頭（專業人才招募公司），以增加自身歷練的產出，如此一來，不僅薪水會在每次跳槽時成長，技能也會越來越能抵抗社會的變遷。
台灣不行，就出走吧！找到自己的偉大航道
「如果喜歡台灣，之後可以回來，但是不要一直在這裡。」這是我那位加拿大饅頭每次見面都會耳提面命的一句話。
事實上，你必須要找到一個能快速成長與扎根的地方。環境像是土壤一樣，如果土壤不夠深，不夠肥沃，根本不可能出現千年神木。我在本書會提到，你必須要找到你的沃土，找到你的巴黎。
胸懷大志者，創業吧！創造出自己所嚮往的價值
台灣自始至終，都沒有建立起一個讓人可以「安全失敗」的文化，也因此害怕失敗，我們都只會挑那些軟柿子吃，找容易的事情做，最安全的路走，將成功者的偉業歸功運氣或是所謂的「命」，並且嘲笑失敗者，暗自慶幸自己沒有留下任何汙點。所謂的命，不就只是運氣而已？如果我們將所有成功與失敗都歸給運氣，人類並不會有努力的理由。如果科學家進實驗室前，先丟骰子，看看今天會不會有諾貝爾獎等級的發現，不會的話，何不就先回家睡覺，明天再來？
事實上，大部分的成功都是靠漸進式（增量）的努力所組成，如果你的心臟夠強，就創業吧！直接在商場上找到自己與台灣的成長模式。
我是台灣土生土長的學士工程師，沒有拿過任何外國學歷，經過長期規畫與執行後，在2012年飛到矽谷來工作。這些文章不是我的結論，而是我探索過程的紀錄，很希望這些想法能夠串聯台灣人對於職涯與發展環境的討論與挑戰，台灣會因為有很棒的傢伙在世界各地發光發熱，而再次找到自己的成長模式。

在傳統儒家的社會結構裡，我們太習慣接受上級或是長輩所給予的結論。填大學志願的時候乖乖聽話；決定要不要考研究所時乖乖聽話；選擇職業時乖乖聽話；要不要相親乖乖聽話；什麼時候結婚乖乖聽話；儘管很蠢，公司內部決策時乖乖聽話；是否要留下來加班也乖乖聽話。
怎麼掌握人生方向盤的人，好像不是你？這些所謂的長輩或是上級，真的知道現在世界的運行法則嗎？如果他們搞砸了，難道是他們要負責任嗎？
我們必須假設上面技術債全都引爆，各種問題狂撲而來，在這樣的情況下規畫未來，用一個個小小的突破，從根本上擺脫這些技術債。
找到你的突破點！
我不想討論整個社會要如何面對時移世異的問題，因為再如何討論，歸納出來的結論都無法「以個人為單位」來實現。若不是聽起來陳腔濫調，要不就是像過氣的政客，喋喋不休。
我想要討論「如何以個人為基礎」，在職涯上不斷持續的有小突破。主要分為四個部分：
過去的模式不行，就突破吧！不要被以前的模式束縛，新世代要找到自己的態度與方向
我在出國工作後，無法避免地經歷了許多文化衝擊，有可能是該文化找工作的方式、溝通的方式、訓練的方式、升遷的方式等。這些衝擊都會帶領我審視自己習以為常的母國文化，到底是長幼有序，或是官大學問大？到底是群組討論，或是開會只是個單向溝通的一言堂？到底是和諧和睦，或是暗地裡波濤洶湧，山頭林立？到底你的服從能裨益組織，還是通往死亡的快速通道？
有了這些衝擊，你會開始思考與選擇你想要加入，甚至創造的組織環境與文化。
化被動為主動，了解職涯升級的秘訣
在台灣，我們非常相信以下這樣的陳腔濫調：只要我有實力，機會會自己找上門，或是只要乖乖跟著體制往上爬，總有一天會站上制高點。如果你真的照著做，我保證你一定是整個團隊中工作最多，卻是升遷最慢的。
實力會隨著你的歷練成長，所以你應該開始追求歷練，學會運用人際關係，尋找饅頭（英文mentor的諧音，譯作導師）與獵人頭（專業人才招募公司），以增加自身歷練的產出，如此一來，不僅薪水會在每次跳槽時成長，技能也會越來越能抵抗社會的變遷。
台灣不行，就出走吧！找到自己的偉大航道
「如果喜歡台灣，之後可以回來，但是不要一直在這裡。」這是我那位加拿大饅頭每次見面都會耳提面命的一句話。
事實上，你必須要找到一個能快速成長與扎根的地方。環境像是土壤一樣，如果土壤不夠深，不夠肥沃，根本不可能出現千年神木。我在本書會提到，你必須要找到你的沃土，找到你的巴黎。
胸懷大志者，創業吧！創造出自己所嚮往的價值
台灣自始至終，都沒有建立起一個讓人可以「安全失敗」的文化，也因此害怕失敗，我們都只會挑那些軟柿子吃，找容易的事情做，最安全的路走，將成功者的偉業歸功運氣或是所謂的「命」，並且嘲笑失敗者，暗自慶幸自己沒有留下任何汙點。所謂的命，不就只是運氣而已？如果我們將所有成功與失敗都歸給運氣，人類並不會有努力的理由。如果科學家進實驗室前，先丟骰子，看看今天會不會有諾貝爾獎等級的發現，不會的話，何不就先回家睡覺，明天再來？
事實上，大部分的成功都是靠漸進式（增量）的努力所組成，如果你的心臟夠強，就創業吧！直接在商場上找到自己與台灣的成長模式。
我是台灣土生土長的學士工程師，沒有拿過任何外國學歷，經過長期規畫與執行後，在2012年飛到矽谷來工作。這些文章不是我的結論，而是我探索過程的紀錄，很希望這些想法能夠串聯台灣人對於職涯與發展環境的討論與挑戰，台灣會因為有很棒的傢伙在世界各地發光發熱，而再次找到自己的成長模式。
