Prashant Malaviya
Course:
MARK-550-22: MARKETING

Prashant Malaviya is Associate Professor of Marketing and comes to Georgetown after nine years at INSEAD, France. Prior to INSEAD, he held an appointment at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and was a visiting professor at the Wharton School, the Titan Industries Professor at ALBA Graduate Business School in Athens, Greece, and at the Kellogg School of Management. Professor Malaviya is a Consumer Psychologist by training and received his Ph.D. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. His research focuses on understanding how consumers use information to form product evaluations and make judgments. His research has been published in leading marketing journals including, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, and Psychology & Marketing. He has taught courses in marketing management, marketing strategy, brand management, customer focus, consumer behavior, and related topics to Executives, MBA and Undergraduate students. He was a finalist for the Best MBA Core Teacher award at INSEAD and was named Outstanding Reviewer by the Journal of Consumer Research. He currently serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Consumer Psychology. Prior to entering the world of academia (and consumers), Professor Malaviya worked in India as an engineer at Tata Motors and as a marketing analyst at Nestle.

Daniel Baer

STRT-583-10: LEADERSHIP/BUSINESS ETHICS I

Daniel Baer arrives at Georgetown after a year as a faculty fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics at Harvard University. He brings experience as a consultant and project leader in consumer goods and strategy with The Boston Consulting Group and as a special assistant in African affairs to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. While with The Boston Consulting Group, he undertook a series of studies focused on issues related to U.S. public education and international economic development. Dr. Baer received his DPhil (PhD) in International Relations from Oxford University, M.Phil in International Relations, also from Oxford, and AB in Social Studies and African American Studies from Harvard University. Dr. Baer graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard, and attended Oxford as a Marshall Scholar. He has written for a number of international newspapers, including The Christian Science Monitor, The Guardian and The Sydney Morning Herald. His current research focuses on the intersection of political theory and global business.

Gregory Coleman

Greg Coleman, with over 25 years of media and publishing experience, serves as the President and CEO of NetSeer, Inc., a technology startup focused on next generation online advertising. Greg previously served as Executive Vice President of Global Sales at Yahoo!, where he helped establish Yahoo!'s recognized leadership in the online advertising marketplace. Prior to joining Yahoo!, Greg was Senior Vice President of Reader's Digest Association and President of U.S. Magazine Publishing, where he was responsible for the company's magazine properties including Reader's Digest, the largest magazine in the U.S. and in the world. During his 12-year tenure at Reader's Digest, Greg also served as Vice President and Worldwide Publisher and led the U.S.-based edition to four consecutive years of record advertising revenues and profitability. Greg was the founding publisher of Memories magazine at Diamandis Communications and worked at CBS, Inc., where he spent 10 years leading advertising efforts for Women's Day as Vice President and National Sales Manager.

Rusty Brewer

FINC-564-20: PROJECT FINANCE (co-teaching with Eric Weingarten)

Rusty Brewer is an associate in the Renewable Energy Group in the Washington, D.C. office. He concentrates his practice on project development and business transactions. His practice also includes transactions for the development of projects structured around CERs generated pursuant to the Kyoto protocol. Mr. Brewer also has experience with general corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and compliance with securities laws. He received his J.D. in 2004 from the Georgetown University Law Center where he was a member of The Tax Lawyer. He received his B.S. in economics from the University of Texas in 1999.

Brian Gill

FINC- 558-20: REAL ESTATE FINANCE

Brian Gill is Principal of Georgetown Investment Advisors, a boutique capital markets firm specializing in commercial real estate investments. Before founding the firm in 2007, Mr. Gill was a member of Cushman & Wakefield's capital markets team in Washington, DC, where he closed over $300 million in commercial transactions. Prior to C&W, Mr. Gill was Vice President of Acquisitions for Bonaventure Realty Group, an Arlington, VA-based real estate developer. Mr. Gill holds master's degrees in business and economics from Northwestern University and the London School of Economics.

Amy Crews Cutts

Amy Crews Cutts currently holds the position of deputy chief economist for Freddie Mac. In this position, she is responsible for primary and secondary mortgage market analysis and research, macroeconomic analysis and forecasting. Amy is also involved in the analysis of affordable lending activities, fair-housing policy, foreclosure prevention and other policy issues affecting housing and mortgage markets. Her published studies cover topics such as the economics of subprime lending, the relationship between state foreclosure timelines and foreclosure avoidance, the impact of technology on foreclosure prevention, the market for multifamily mortgages, and cross-national income distribution changes. Prior to coming to Freddie Mac in 1997, Amy served as assistant professor of economics and senior researcher in the Maxwell School for Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She has also taught economics at The Johns Hopkins University and the University of Virginia. Amy serves on the Board of Directors of the International Conservatory of Music and in 2007 and 2008 she was the executive director of the ICM’s John and Susie Beatty Music Scholarship Competition for Classical Guitar held in Washington, DC. She also is on the Real Estate Financial Advisory Board for the City of Washington, DC, and Policy Advisory Board of The Reinvestment Fund, Philadelphia, PA. Amy is a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Virginia.
