MBABoy \$m[1]:I think that the most important thing for MBA is to find and educate a leader. The management skills are the key points. So, for schools, it will definitely be weird to see people who want to be educated as leaders "twice". Despite the difference between TW MBA and US MBA, they just read from your diploma and feel awkward.

You have to let them know that TW MBA is totally different from US MBA, and focus on the management skills you want to learn rahter than tell them, "I want to get advanced finance, accounting, or marketing knowledge." They can easily give you the feedback, "go for MS in finance, accounting, etc." or "go for PhD."

I know what you mean, but it will be very difficult to do so. First, I have to find a program which specialize in leadership. Most B-schools claimed that they educate future leaders and they all have leadership and management skills classes. In other words, leadership is not a major concentration for B-schools. Second, I have to prepare my essay in such way that I am alreday a leader but I still want to be an "advanced" leader. That also sounds wierd to me. I mean leadership and management skills do matters but they are definetly not good reasons against other applicants for entering B-schools.

I think a possible solution is to claim that I am a career changer who wants to secure a position in gerenal management in the future.

I don't think an additional essay explaining the differences between a TW MBA degree and a US MBA degree works well.

Because I did one for every school.

I see. Since you have explained the difference between TW MBA and US MBA, I think that this ideal logic does not work.

Let me talk about my thinking of leadersip. In applying for MBA, I think that the tricky point for this issue is that you have to demonstrate you have "the potnetial" to be a futrue leader. This is not enough for you to have experience in leading in many extracurriculars or community service or your team projects. So, you are right, you have to show that you want to be a "advanced leader". Leadership includes complicated skills in negotiation, communication, conflict management, and even presentation. How to articulate your points, persuade other people and lead them toward what you expect are needed to be learned. That is why you need MBA, not a MS in fin. or accounting. I think that it is not weird for school to know you want to be advanced leader. They do look at your past achievements, however, they also find potential of being a "future" or "advanced" leader.

On top of that, I "guess" it is business skill that they concern when they review your application. Despite your explanation of difference between TW and US MBA, they may doubt why you need to improve your business skill "twice". You know, you already have MS in accounting, improving specific business skills in fin. or other fields will have hard time justifying your story. And then, I guess I am back to the "leadership" or "management skills". I think that this is the only point you can justify.

My rough idea is that MBA consists of two parts: management skills + professional skills in marketing or other fields. Since you already have MS in accounting, if you can not make your story strong enough to persuade the school that, "I want to learn management skills from MBA", they will think that, "you can go for EMBA when you have achieved certain level and need to re-shape your leadership ability and improve your network."
