Over 90% of Master's in Financial Engineering Students Land Top-Tier Internships
More than 90% of the students in the Haas School's Master's in Financial Engineering program have landed internships with major firms on the West Coast, and in New York, London, Japan, and the Netherlands for their winter break, with the average monthly salary now topping $6,500.
The internship program, which matches MFE students to firms with challenging projects in quantitative finance, lasts 10 to 12 weeks over the MFE winter break from mid-October to mid-January.
Linda Kreitzman, director of the MFE program, oversees the placement process and works diligently to help MFE students and financial firms make the right match. This year she placed 28 students with New York firms.
"Linda Kreitzman's dedication to understanding individual students' strengths and placing them using her vast network of contacts has resulted in almost 50% of us landing internships with top Wall Street firms in New York," says Shinjit Ghosh, MFE 06. Thirty-one students were placed in internships in Europe, in Asia, on the West Coast or in the Mid West.
So far this year, MFE students have been hired into internships with Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, JP Morgan, AIG, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Dow Jones, BNP Paribas, Barclays Global Investors, MSCI BARRA, Allianz Hedge Fund Partners, Axa Rosenberg Capital Management, and Wells Capital Management, among other firms.
