請問申請學校時
有何種產業或職位的工作經驗
會比較得到學校的青睞
謝謝
雖然這是沒有標準的答案的問題
不過希望大家都發表意見
尤其是已經申請上學校的朋友

跟別人不一樣的工作經驗跟職位
事實上,財務金融方面的產業是較有幫助的,但是這方面的牛人正在申請MBA的多到不能在多,除非你能比他利害.向金控總金裡啦等等之類的.
而跟別人不一樣的話即使你只入門幾年,但大部分的人也都你差,學校為了diversity考量,很容易收你,比如說如果你是某某生命事業的啦,老人安養機構啦等等的,表明你想因應中國的崛起的商機跟未來對生命健康的重視趨勢,就很有說服力,因為沒有人比你屌.這樣就很好申請.

W/E-----MBA-----post-MBA job

1.The most important factor is "the competitors who apply the same year as you do." If there are lots of people with finance background and work in financial sector, then a marketing background person with same GMAT and TOEFL will stand out. In addition, if lots of people are from NTU business school, then a guy from NCCU will stand out. Don't question about this point. NTU won't necessarily have competitive advantage over NCCU given same profiles; you know, schools always want to show their "diversity", and they do not know what is going on with Taiwan education system.

2. What is the role of MBA in your life? You have to figure it out first. If this is just a degree for you, then no matter what kind of W/E you have, it means little effect to you. And you won't have to worry about it. If you treasure your work experience more than anything, how come you ask this kind of question? This is your career and your life, not those b-schools'. Even though we tell you that working in international firm, in investment banking, or in consulting will look more preferable to schools, is this really suitable for you?

I think that you do not have correct attitude toward MBA. You have to find out how MBA will help you in your career, rather than to find out what W/E you have could attract b-schools. So, the first thing is to make sure you have correct thinking toward MBA stuff. MBA is a bridge, not a destination.

It doesn't matter. No matter what you do, what you learn before you apply for MBA is the most important thing. Do you have any leadership experience? Do you excel in your work? Do you build strong relationship with your colleagues? It always about quality. B-schools focus on diversity. If you do get something valuable from your past experience and articulate your reason for pursuing MBA, you can get into b-school even you do not have college diploma.

So, since you have engineering background, you ought to know well what a engineer does or a sales does. Then, you can apply for the job that you think you can learn something which is critical to b-school application, such as teamwork experience. Since your goal is to prepare for the MBA even you haven't worked (counter to b-schools' logic, they think that most people come here only when they think that they need MBA), then just try to prepare yourself with these experience.

我想你還是沒有跳脫"MBA is a destination"的思維
你應該考量的是你的個性究竟適合什麼樣的工作，
沒有人規定念理工科系畢業只適合當工程師，
如果你對做研究、開發產品、鑽研技術有興趣，
那麼工程師會很適合你，而你在擔任工程師的三到四年間
會有很多的收穫、很務實的產品開發經驗，會有很好的
升遷，自然你將來在申請學校時會有一個很好的資歷來support你

相反的，如果你的個性是喜歡接觸人群，喜歡接觸產品應用，
而非鑽研技術或是開發系統，那我會建議你走業務或是採購
把你的專業背景當成是domain knowledge，並不是每個人都
適合走工程師這一條路。

至於對申請學校有沒有幫助的問題，和你做什麼職務並不相干
重要的是這一路走來你的成就有哪些、你是否有所發揮、以及
你可以拿來包裝的"材料"，這些才是學校在意的東西。

不過以我個人的經驗，很多人走入工程師這一條路才發現自己
並不適合鑽研技術，不喜歡整天面對機器，所以才思考藉由換
新工作或是念MBA來轉換領域和跑道。所以，請你在進職場前
先好好思考自己的個性和長處究竟適合什麼性質的工作，根據
自我分析的結果來決定要做什麼職務，而不是根據將來念MBA
有沒有幫助來做這個攸關你人生的重大選擇。
