Dear Sophie:

首先，別再叫我學長了，我跟妳是同一年大學畢業的 :D

前兩天跟ANGELA吃飯，聊到妳被拒的事，我們都覺得很不可思議，因為我們一致認為妳應該會是DARDEN想收的學生。

我自已也是個re-applicant，第一年也是滿手的拒絕信，只拿到ROSS的WL。掙扎了兩個月後還是被拒掉。當時的失望跟妳恐怕是不相上下，但事後證明，如果我候補上ROSS的話，其實我很有可能念一半就要捲鋪蓋返台(因為一些家庭因素)。因此，現在的我回頭看，很感謝老天爺讓我第一年時一無所獲

當然，我還是希望妳可以WL上ROSS。只是從我的角度看妳，覺得妳已經具備一個成功的MBA的特質，即使最後妳選擇不走這條路，我一點也不覺得妳往後的發展會受任何限制。

加油！不管妳最後去了哪裡，那一定是個好地方！

To Sophie,

You are a great person. Great in w/e and academic works, and even greater in personality.

People got dinged for many reasons. As Davee once said, "fit" can be an extremely important factor. However, "how fit", "why fit", or even "why not fit" are not decided by us, but by the adcom.

We are "products." We are packed well, and our quality is excellent. But sometimes customers just don't buy us. They just don't. It is adcom's failure that diamonds are ignored while stones are offered multiple admissions. This, unfortunately, happens all the time and is still happening.

I once saw a post here in cafe. A story about a top5 mba graduate works in a bank as a "clerk." The LZ sighed that such a top5 mba must have made beautiful stories when applying. The adcom failed to recognize the applicant's weakness and admitted him. But at the end of the day, this weak guy still had to face the reality - he was not strong enough to survive in the society, even though he "succeeded" in applying to a top5 b school.

I feel you are mature. I feel your career goal is clear and your motivation is strong. Your w/e is solid and your academic experience is thorough. More important, you are enthusiastic and proactive. You are 100% qualified.

The adcoms are rejecting your "application", not "you". They probably are blind. I pray for your Ross w/l and I believe you'll be fine no matter where you go.

想當年,在美加認識蘇菲姐姐的時候,是因為補同ㄧ班,很幸運被助教分在同ㄧ個讀書會,那時,対我們來說,每次模擬考隨便考考就是650以上的蘇菲姐姐簡直像神ㄧ樣。

ㄧ直到現在,我都覺得自己很幸運居然可以認識這麼牛的人,不但是在英文上,還有組織能力,自我意識的部份,我覺得蘇菲姐姐都有過人之處。

其實,我想人生有時候真的很奇妙,你以為前途似錦時,命運會給你重重的ㄧ擊,你以為沒希望時,卻是峰迴路轉......

我相信,當然Ross是ㄧ定要上的囉,只是我也相信,不管到哪邊,蘇菲姐姐都會是亮眼的ㄧ顆星吧!!!
