從CD轉來的US NEWS RANKING標準
http://www.chasedream.com/show.aspx?id=538&cid=15
IMO, the US News ranking tends to be more stable and more reflective of the general perception.

Disclaimer: I’m not claiming that this ranking is a better ranking. I’m simply saying that this ranking makes a little more sense to me. It’s perfectly possible that I could be wrong. I certainly do not want to ignite another heated ranking debate :-)

Here is the ranking methodology:

All 377 master's programs in business accredited by AACSB International were surveyed (293 responded, of which 185 provided the data needed to calculate rankings based on a weighted average of the eight quality indicators described below). All 377 schools appear in the directory.

Quality assessment (weighted by .40): Two surveys were conducted in the fall of 2004. Business school deans and directors of accredited programs were asked to rate programs on a scale from "marginal" (1) to "outstanding" (5); 56 percent responded, and the resulting scores are weighted by .25 in the ranking model. Corporate recruiters and company contacts who hire from previously ranked programs were also asked to rate programs; 32 percent responded, and their ratings are weighted by .15 in the ranking model.

Placement success (.35): This is measured by mean starting salary and bonus (40 percent) and employment rates for full-time M.B.A. program 2004 graduates, computed at graduation (20 percent) and three months later (40 percent). Those not seeking jobs are excluded. Salary figures are based on the number of graduates reporting data. Since not everyone who reported a base salary reported a signing bonus, the mean signing bonus is weighted by the proportion who reported a bonus.

Student selectivity (.25): The strength of full-time students entering in the fall of 2004 was measured by mean GMAT (65 percent), mean undergraduate GPA (30 percent), and the proportion of applicants accepted by the school (5 percent).

Overall rank: Data were standardized about their means, and standardized scores were weighted, totaled, and rescaled so that the top school received 100; others received their percentage of the top score.

Specialty rankings: These rankings are based solely on ratings by educators at peer schools. Business school deans and program heads were asked to nominate up to 10 programs for excellence in each of the areas listed. The 10 schools receiving the most votes appear here.

gogotu大上載那一篇裡就有提到各個排名的缺點或不應該說是缺點而是排名造成學校不注重教學品質轉而注意別的評分因素的原因
其中有
1.higher Gmat requirement(作者寫到high potential students with low gmat or low gpa are generally no longer accepted at senond tier B school, even though they may add great value to the learning environment.),

2.smaller cohort(Top tier schools have brand recognition on their side, so they can easily attract top students. To compete in the rankings, second and third tier schools have decreased their class size to boost their selectivityfactor. their strategy is first to attract a smaller class filled with top students, in the hope of increasing their ranking and eventually making it easier to attract a large class of top students. ),

3.overemphasis on paychecks (graduates of the top ten schools earned the highest starting salaries, and those from eight of the next ten earned the next highest. It seems that for any b school to make the top 20, its students must be placed in high salary jobs. But consider the masage this sends to aspiring students: the quality of the program is directly related not to what you learn, the network you create, or what you accomplish, but to the salary you earn afetr you graduate. ),

4.shift on spending (Many schools aim much of funding directly at improving their status in the ranking. And as a result, their diversion of funds to engineer their MBA ranking often weaken the qulity of the learning environment in all program),

5.more fulls less substances( All schools care about student satisfation .But student satisfaction has become such a major factor in BW ranking that schools have become too concerned with making students happy. Top schools are now providing fitness center, plush student lounges, and upscale dining -- perks generally unrelated to providing a stimulating learning environment. Less luxurious thiongs might have meant that more resouces would be devoted to faculty, curriculum, and other aspects directly related to learnign.),

6.marketing bonanza

6.Marketing bonanzas.....(我覺得最誇張的一點)

A business school’s reputation with other
business school deans plays a major role in U.S. News’ rankings. Just before U.S. News sends out its dean survey, deans’desks everywhere are overflowing with mail from other business schools: glossy brochures, fancy announcement cards, and sometimes even gifts. Schools are spending a great deal of money not to improve their infrastructures and curricula, but to curry favor with other deans.
